Last Chance to Tell Monsanto 'Public TV is Not for Sale!'

 

 

Tell Monsanto Public Television is Not for Sale!

American Public Television (APT) is trying to distribute to over 300

public television stations a weekly agriculture series funded in large

part by Monsanto and the American Farm Bureau Federation. America's

Heartland (see the trailer)

is 20 half-hour episodes that claim to help raise awareness of the

significant contribution American agriculture makes to the quality of

life here and abroad.

 

In violation of its own standards for corporate sponsorship, APT is

promoting a program about a product funded by the very interests that

market that product. This is not Exxon sponsoring Masterpiece Theater.

This is Big Ag producing its own propaganda to be broadcast over

public airwaves funded in part through taxpayer dollars.

 

Help us tell APT that public television is not for sale - to Big Ag or

anyone. Please sign this online petition asking APT executives to

present the full story about industrial agriculture's impact on rural

communities.

The petition will remain open for signatories until Friday, August

26th. It will then be delivered in a letter to APT executives and the

producers of the series. Help protect the objectivity of public
