Currently, there are no government standards that regulate organic labeling for seafood. Unfortunately, some companies are misleading consumers by labeling seafood as organic, even when it is not. In the meantime, California is leading the way to ensure that consumers will no longer be misled by inaccurate organic labeling until such standards are adopted and implemented. SB 730, legislation introduced by Senator Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo), will ban the use of the organic label on all fish and seafood sold in the state until the USDA or the State of California creates organic certification standards. Tell Your (Calif.) Assembly Member to Support SB 730! Help Protect the Integrity of the Organic Label!
