Guest guest
WHAT DO WE THE PEOPLE DO NEXT (THE SUPREME COURT)? This message will be a little different from our regular action alerts so please take a moment to read this one in particular. We sincerely would like your feedback about how we should proceed. As you will see from the new action page below we are incorporating your many wonderful suggestions from last week. http://www.usalone.com/rightwingcourt.htm First off, we want to thank all those who participated in the action speaking out against CAFTA, either through our resource, The People's Email Network, or in any other way. It should have been enough, but it was not. In the end we lost by one vote, and we're very ANGRY about it, just as we are angry about the bankruptcy bill, and the class action bill, the filibuster surrender, the abuse of power in the Bolton recess appointment, and so many other atrocities of late. To those who say we did not have the power to stop these things, we say this: For those who are AFRAID to exercise the power they have, even that little power will be taken away from them. And there is nothing that makes us more angry than defeatism, except perhaps treason, for that is also the enemy itself in our midst. In fact, you certainly HAVE had an impact recently in knocking the MTBE provision out of the energy bill, and in denying Bolton the approval of the Senate. There are many errors that can be corrected. Bad legislation can be repealed, corrupt members of Congress and most other government officials can be replaced, but the one thing most difficult to undo is the appointment of an extremist with an agenda to the Supreme Court. No matter what has gone before, it is perfectly plain that John Roberts is a committed lifelong extremist, a stealth candidate being presented in sheep's clothing. And he must be stopped at absolutely all costs. How are we going to do it? The first thing we need to do is build a consensus that any new Supreme Court appointee must be no worse than a moderate centrist. A president who just squeaked though a questionable election and is now more unpopular than ever does NOT have the prerogative to install a radical right wing crony to the highest court of the land. We can make that case to the American people. But to do so will require that everybody pull their weight. Of all the people who ever submitted one of our action forms, and who are still receiving our alerts, ONLY about 20% submitted a vote on the CAFTA action. We had the power, all by ourselves to stop that thing with just the number of participants we have now, if only we had all taken action. To win on the Supreme Court we need absolutely every one of our participants submit the action page, even if you speak out in some other way, do this too. And when you do, it is absolutely CRITICAL that you submit the email address of everyone else you know and we will send them a voting invitation to build our numbers further. We have to do it. Otherwise, there is no tomorrow. http://www.usalone.com/rightwingcourt.htm Please take action NOW! Forward this email to everyone you know, and encourage its posting on blogs and websites.
