Guest guest
I've heard that high levels of Vitamin C should be taken when you have any abdominal surgery. I don't know about going to bowel tolerance, but I would go as high as I could tolerate or do Vitamin C IV through a doctor. Going bowel tolerance as indicated by Linus Pauling may be a problem because of possible difficulty with having bowel movements after surgery, at least initially. I'm sure an allopathic doctor would not have the foggiest notion on how to do Vitamin C IV, but there are plenty of orthomolecular doctors around that do know how to do this. That is what I would do. Guest guest
Hi Everybody, I just got from the surgery I had Tuesday (Emergency Appendectomy). I would like any suggestions to speed up my recovery. I am too weak to do much research on my own today. Thanks for any help or encouraging words you can offer. I am in pain and feeling low. Please email directly to southallp so as to not clog up the List's email. Much love, Pamela
Guest guest
I asked a friend to bring some into the hospital the day after my sugery. As soon as the doc said I could take something by mouth, I downed 2200 mg. That was yesterday. Since then, I think I've taken about 15 grams of Calcium Ascorbate. Thoughts? Thanks, Pamela --- llgold1563 wrote: > I've heard that high levels of Vitamin C should be > taken when you have any > abdominal surgery. Guest guest
Since we're simply expressing personal views and opinions here (more or less), let me say that I see this widely held view, that you should take mega-doses of Vit. C, before and after surgery, as an ideal situation. It seems to me that, if you're in the habit of applying sound nutritional principles, and healthy attitudes and behaviors in your diet and life style, you'll probably survive nearly any surgery beautifully, whether or not you take mega doses of C. It's great to take the C, if you imagine you need it, if the surgeons allow it, or, if they don't, if you can sneak it in, great. I'm going out on a limb here, but, I believe (assuming reasonable competence in your surgeons) that people that eat intelligently, pop some supplements, get adequate rest and exercise, can handle all but the most dangerous and invasive surgeries just fine.
