Wouldn't it be nice if corporations were not allowed to have any say in

laws/regulations/legislation and only the wishes of the people were involved in

those decisions? But of course, that makes too much sense and is too close to

what the founding fathers intended, i.e., that the people rule the country.

Our lives would be a whole lot different, and there would not be such a daily

flurry of ordinary people like us having to react to yet another transgression

motivated by those that are powerful and thinking only of their own bottom line.

At any rate, here is yet another one.

Groups including the Organic Trade Association (??!!), are lobbying Congress to

amend the Organic Foods Production Act (1990) so that synthetic ingredients can

be allowed in food products labeled as " organic. " They claim that these

ingredients are inconsequential and that consumers do not care about their use

in " organic " food.

Consumers Union conducted a nationwide survey of 1200 US adults online where 85%

of respondents said that they do not expect food labeled as " organic " to contain

artificial (or chemically derived) ingredients.

Fortunately, a recent court decision ruled that no synthetic (non-natural)

ingredients should be allowed in food labeled as " organic. " This ruling

strengthens the intent of the current law by keeping out chemically derived

substances from food labeled as 1Corganic. 1D

Tell Congress that you don 19t want to buy 1C100% organic 1D or 1Corganic 1D

food made with chemically derived ingredients

Act now! Tell Congress to strengthen organic standards.
