Bayou Herbs' mission is twofold. First, to create awareness of the disastrous

The Amazon Rainforest, the " Lungs of the Planet " , produces more than 20

Over half of the world's estimated 10 million species of plants, animals and

insects live in the tropical rainforests.

 

 

Yet we continue to allow our rainforests to be destroyed at the terrifying rate

Clearly, the only way we can end the ruthless and greedy destruction of our

remaining rainforests is to make them more valuable alive than dead.

 

Rainforest land used to raise cattle is worth $60 per acre; if used for timber

the value is $400 per acre. In both cases the rainforest is destroyed.

 

However, rainforest land used for sustainable, renewable resources, such as

medicinal herbs, is worth $2,400 per acre, provides employment and income for

the indigenous people, and leaves the rainforest intact.

 

At the current rate of destruction, earth's remaining rainforests will disappear

completely within 40 years...
