On this American independence day, thousands of families strive for

drug free schools--and they're not worrying about illegal drugs,

their main concern is coercive prescribed amphetamines and other mind-

altering psychotropic drugs.

 

Other than the critical reaction of actor Tom Cruise, a

Scientologist, to Brooke Shields' paen to the antidepressant, Paxil,

for her post partum depression, critical reactions from ordinary

citizens have not been published or quoted in the media.

 

But compelling criticism comes from countless parents and

grandparnets who have suffered from the adverse effects of such

drugs. Gloria Wright of North Carolina (below), whose healthy, 5 year

old grandchild, Noha, undewent a horrific 10 year prescribed drug-

induced odyssey that severely undermined his physical and

psychological health, is just one family's testimony.

 

" Noah's life was transformed from one of happiness and good health

before his drugging, to one of severe depression, anxiety, diabetes,

high blood pressure, severe migraines, severe hostility, homicidal

tendencies, aggression, suicidality, etc., etc., etc. His history now

includes involuntary commitment to 7 mental hospitals, placement in

12 foster homes, and literally dozens of so-called mental

health " professionals " pulling and tearing at his life & his psyche.

At each turn, at each institution, while in the hands and/or care of

these " professionals " Noah was taken deeper and deeper into the world

of a severely mentally ill youngster, for he was being legally drug

abused to the full extent of 1000 mgs per day (!) of

psychotropic/antidepressant/SSRI drugs. He was only 14 years old! "

 

The responsible psychiatrist who guided the grandparents to help

their grandson through an excruciating lengthy drug withdrawal

process, called the " treatment " the child had received abuse. Read

Celebrities are hardly reliable sources for medical information--all

too often, celebrities are paid by pharmaceutical companies to

Actress Brooke Shields has elected to make her personal medical

problem public knowledge and did so in a manner that leaves it open

for public discussion. Post partum depression afflicts multitudes of

women after child birth. It is a condition caused by out of balance

hormones induced by pregnancy and/or the trauma of giving birth.

Consequently this condition is medical in nature, requiring medical

professional care and assistance.

 

Evidently Ms. Shields was not provided sound medical advice and

guidance. Instead she was given the dangerous antidepressant, Paxil,

for what she said was diagnosed post partum depression. The medical

condition was in fact ignored and then endangered by the side effects

of this drug, apparently taking her into suicidal thoughts and

inclinations, anxiety, and agitation while imperiling her life and

thus that of her baby!

 

It is apparent Brooke's doctor did not tell her of the dangers of the

antidepressant Paxil and the rapidly growing medical opinion that

addresses the dangers of prescribing antidepressants for PPD. The

Food and Drug Administration has issued warnings of the dangers of

these drugs in that they can cause hostility, anxiety, mania, panic

attacks and agitation. On July 1, the FDA issued a suicide behavior

and suicide risk warning to adults who use antidepressants.

This " watch dog " organization now admits that, after analyzing

hundreds of suicides, there exists a higher-than-expected rate of

suicide attempts in adults taking antidepressant drugs.

 

Nonetheless, Brooke Shields prefers to accept the mental illness

label of post partum depression rather than to hold her doctor

accountable, or for that matter, the pharmaceutical company

GlaxoSmithKlein (GSK) responsible for her terrible and nearly deadly

ordeal. Post partum depression should be treated as a proven medical

condition, and not as a psychiatric condition. Any woman who is

suffering PPD becomes further victimized when a psychiatric

drug/antidepressant is added to the already existing hormonal

imbalance. It is nothing less than criminal for the psychiatric

industry and some medical doctors to continue to tell women PPD is a

mental illness treatable with antidepressant drugs like Paxil while

deliberately ignorning the warnings of the FDA.

 

Further trauma beset Brooke when she admittedly stopped taking Paxil

and describes what she calls " ...a relapse that almost led me to

drive my car into a wall... " . There is little doubt what was

happening to Brooke was drug withdrawal which brought about psychotic

behavior, nearly killing her baby and herself. Antidepressant drugs

are known to be addictive - habit forming, and to come off them

causes withdrawal.

 

These drugs are dangerous. These drugs are poisonous. These drugs are

habit forming. These drugs are killing children and adults via

suicide and leading them to kill others. The FDA is now warning the

public of the dangers of these drugs and admits to a propensity for

suicide attempts for many of those people prescribed these dangerous

and poisonous drugs.

 

More and more warnings as to the dangers of psychiatric drugs have

been issued by the FDA. Their side effects are being made known to

the public through the Black Box Warnings afixed to the drug labels

in the case of many psychiatric drugs. Psychiatrists and medical

doctors have received FDA warnings and information about the dangers

of antidepressants, antipsychotic drugs and stimulants as well.

 

Nevertheless, the massive drugging of America continues and the

national media sits relatively idlely by. Perhaps, had Brooke seen a

media campaign based on a thorough investigation of the medical,

psych and pharmaceutical industries she would have been saved such

pain and anguish.

 

Brooke Shields needs to realize it is not Tom Cruise who has

victimized her.

 

Rather it is her doctor as well as the pharmaceutical and psychiatric

industries! What they are doing to America is nothing short of

criminal!
