Guest guest
Tue, 12 Jul 2005 07:06:40 -0400 " Maj Fiil-Flynn " <mfiil [WATERFORALL] New issue of World Bank Watch - www.worldbankwatch.org News from Public Citizen's Water For All Campaign ********** The World Bank increased lending in the water and sanitation sector from US$546 million in 2002 to over US$3 billion in 2005. Unfortunately, there is little indication that this resulted in more access to clean and affordable water in the global south. Instead the World Bank continues to push a range of conditions such as privatization, decentralization, full cost recovery and changes of national laws. For more background on the World Bank's conditional lending in the water and sanitation sector read " Will the World Bank Back Down? Water Privatization in a Climate of Global Protest " (www.worldbankwatch.org). The latest issue of World Bank Watch is now available on www.worldbankwatch.org (March-June).
