United States will support CODEX compulsory rules directly

Dr. Ed Scarborough, US Manager of Codex, has issued a formal written

statement 1 to the Codex Alimentarius Commission 2 that the United

States Delegation, during the July 4-9, 2005, meeting in Rome, will

support compulsory rules created by this international organization

directly overruling U.S. law regarding access to vitamins. The Codex

is a joint venture between the United Nation's World Health

Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization (WHO/FAO).

Health freedom leaders and ordinary citizens from around the world are

calling for the rejection of Codex guidelines for Vitamins and

Minerals because the guidelines include a provision to establish

" upper limits " on vitamins and minerals based on a " risk assessment "

protocol which has already been determined by " consensus " in the

cloakroom. Formal " consensus " will be " officially " revealed at the

Codex meeting in Rome. The cloakroom model favored by the Food and

Food Supplements Chairman Rolf Grossklaus is the German model of risk,

which is based on whether or not vitamins and minerals interfere with

drugs. Based on actual studies of real incidents, there is more risk

in eating food than in consumption of dietary supplements. 6

The German delegation has issued its proposed Risk Assessment

" guidelines " 7 which, if adopted, would severely limit access to

normal American quantities of vitamins.

Vitamin C, for example, would be limited to 225 mgs. The German

" scientific " justification for severely limiting access is based on

faulty and archaic scientific standards which automatically favor

protection of drugs. 8

An enforceable " upper limits " program based on a Codex " risk

assessment " protocol would infringe on an individuals' right to make

their own health choices.

WTO: Although Codex is a voluntary membership organization, the

majority of members of Codex also belong to the World Trade

Organization (WTO). The WTO has mandatory agreements that identify

Codex as THE international food standard program that all of the WTO

member countries must abide by. 9

The WTO/Codex connection has been deliberately obscured during Codex

deliberations so that the urgency to be concerned about the impact of

the so-called " guidelines " (read world regulations) becomes shrouded

in United Nations-political technospeak. 10

For a complete inside view, read Peter Byrne's expose´ on Codex. 11

It isn't going to get any clearer than this, folks.
