Guest guest
Dear Group, Since we have many new people let me cover what this group is about and how it works. I started this group 4 years ago when I was very sick and could not find a group to my liking on the web. Most of the groups at that time were a hodgepodge of information most of it somewhat spurious. Most of the information was posted by people who had a level of understanding that they had aquired by reading messages from groups like mentioned above or had aquired their knowledge of alternative health by reading websites of commercial products, but most were not able to discern the wheat from the chaff. So even though some people were well meaning most messages were a mix of truth, fiction, misinformation, etc. Others posted stuff that promoted some product which which they had some commercial interest or information that they had picked up from some commercial interest. My original plan was to have a small group of well informed people to trade indepth information with. I wanted a group that mainly focused on things that worked on a biological/cellular level, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fats, etc. or things that affected them like herbs, homeopahty, etc but were natural substances with little or no bad side effects and that is still our main focus. Since so many things are lumped under the broad heading of " alternative medicine " to keep it on target and not let the group become the same as what we were trying to get away from we came up with certain guidlines. I don't know if I can remember them all right now to include them here but bascially we do not cover or allow postings on: Religion Distance healing Essential Oils Hulda Clarke Coconut Oils Liver / Kidney Cleanses From most Commercial Sites Healing Machines There must be more but I don't remember them sometimes until someone posts one. We do not usually take a public position about them. It is just that we do not cover them in this group. All of them do have groups if anyone is interested in those areas. We try to post real answers to questions and try to make theanswers somewhat comprehensive. We try to give an indepth answer using research or written by an alternative source that is considered to be reliable, etc. We try to shy away from short subjective answers given by others like, " Take this pill " . Understanding is key to natural health. We are not doctors or even if some are we are not here to practice medicine. You can say what has worked for you or post some research on an area but we do not put ourselves into a doctor/patient relationship here. While we want to help each other and to also trade information we do not have the right to tinker with someone else's health, especially when it is done over the internet without even seeing the person. Everyone is different and what is causing a symtopm in one person may be a different cause creating the same or a similar symptom in someone else. So none of us can say with certaintude blah, blah, blah, this is your problem and this is your solution, but we can say read and learn about this, here is some information that I am posting, here are somethings that have worked for me or others, etc. Education not medication is our goal. If you have indepth knowledge in some area share it with us. If you are doing research into something for your own education and find it good, share that with us. Try and help each other with good material so that others will have a good understanding also. Try and keep in mind that although we want to help someone the best thing that we can do is help them to learn the things that they need to know to save themselves and those around them rather that just try and tell them what to do ie. " take this pill " . They will need to be educated and be able to make sound health decisions to obtain health. We have almost 3000 members and a lot of posts. Not all messages make it to the group. If you want your message shown please try and post within the guidlines discussed above. All posts are expected to be edited and cleaned up prior to posting. That means take off all the unwanted junk and especially the signature lines added by groups or computers at the bottom of many postings. If it is messy it will be held back to be edited by a moderator if they have time. Some get too old and go into the trash. Try to make this a community with standards that are helpful, can be trusted, and that we can be proud of, thanks, Frank
