THis is the most important issue in Australia today and indeed in the

world today. Everyones life depends on Health Freedom and all must

have the necessary information to act promptly to keep Health Freedom

of Choice. We will experience serious problems if we ignore this or

let various individuals suppress this information.

RE:Aussie Supplement Legislation-CODEX Data being Suppressed

 

There has been wide dissemination of " fact " releases and bulletins

issued by the TGA and other " Peak Body " sources that parrot or copy

the TGA releases. Uninformed persons are mistakenly using and

circulating this material as a contradiction to this author's article:

CODEX-The Sickness Industry's Last Stand? It is important to note

that these " official " looking releases do NOT address the vital issues

raised by this article. This has created unnecessary confusion and

prevented the community from becoming aware of the serious problems it

is likely to face if the suppression of Natural Health care and

products continues to escalate.

 

The author, an experienced investigative writer, wrote this article:

CODEX-The Sickness Industry's Last Stand?, supported by several pages

of references, sources and documents - solely to inform the community,

practitioners, suppliers and manufacturers of supplements of

legislation that was planned or had been introduced in the Australian

Parliament, without public knowledge or debate that is set to have

serious effects on the availability, manufacture and use of health

supplements for all Australians and New Zealanders. For example: 1)

The Australian and New Zealand governments have signed the Joint

Tasman International Treaty (JTA) in 2003 without the community's

knowledge or consent. 2) This Treaty forms the " legal " platform upon

which a new international regulator with a corporate structure will be

formed which will absorb the Australian regulator (TGA) and NZ's

Medsafe. 3) If implemented, this new regulator called the

Trans-Tasman Agency will then be situated in an international

jurisdiction under the WTO and other treaties and directly in the

CODEX jurisdiction. The author's article also raises issues pertaining

to the proposed TGA amendment Bill 2005 and ethical questions

regarding pharmaceutical interests installed as current members of TGA

committees.

 

Some persons who have not read the author's article are disputing it

on the basis of the TGA and other " fact sheets " which they are widely

disseminating to others, either mistakenly believing their relevance

to the issues or in an attempt to suppress or hose down discussion of

the real issues in the debate. These " fact sheets " do not address the

issues raised by the author. They are also not sourced and

referenced. (By all means read them but they cannot be taken as a

sole, relevant, complete or impartial source of information.)

 

ON one occasion however, the TGA " fact " sheet is uncannily close to

the truth:

 

A current TGA " fact Sheet " states: " The current Australian regulatory

framework for complementary medicines is not subject to the standards

and guidelines of the Codex Alimentarius Commission. "

 

This assertion is precisely the point of the author's article; the

change in jurisdiction towards CODEX, brought about by the JTA treaty

and the Trans-Tasman regulator will certainly abolish the current

Australian regulatory framework, causing major consequences that the

author has revealed to the public.

 

The TGA and others repeat the claim: " As these products are regulated

as medicines in Australia, they will not be affected by the proposed

Codex Guidelines. "

 

This claim is totally irrelevant when the new Trans-Tasman regulator

is established which will be in the same jurisdiction as CODEX and WTO

- when a raft of international treaties will AUTOMATICALLY apply.

 

Australians now have a problem. Their freedom of choice in health

care is shortly set to disappear. There is widespread ignorance of

the real issues and a scarcity of important and relevant data. There

are those who continue to promote ignorance and confusion out of their

own inability to accept or analyze data. And there are those who

co-operate with anyone, including the unethical or the vested

interests to keep a lid on this information. Those appear to have

most vehemently opposed this data from becoming known, arguing against

its credibility and the credibility of the author, often without even

having read the article. Yet since its release on April 23, 2005, the

article's data has not been disproven despite the author's standing

invitation to anyone who can show evidence to the contrary, backed up

by primary sources.

 

The author, Eve Hillary, has written this article " CODEX-The Sickness

Industry's Last Stand " and made its references and primary documents

available to the public and MPs for the sole purpose of presenting

important missing data about the suppression of Natural Health care

and products, to inform and stimulate healthy, informed, rational and

intelligent debate. The author does not mind one iota if people

agree with the article - only that those who want it have the data

available to them. The author does not wish to receive any more

attacks from ill informed persons who have not read the data or seen

the documents. Constructive suggestions from informed persons are,

however, welcome.

 

If you do not wish to access this data and the primary documents

showing the current moves to suppress natural health care and

products, then refrain from it by all means, but then you cannot

ethically pass on the TGA and other " information " from peak bodies

parroting the TGA material, to others, claiming it addresses the

issues, when it contains NO relevant information on the issues.

 

Do Australians want Freedom of Choice in Health Care? Or do they want

to continue to accept efforts to suppress their choices? Or to allow

themselves to sink into confusion and apathy. Do they continue to

allow others to prevent and discourage their access to important

information or to supplements? Are Australians big enough to read data

for themselves? Can they make their own decisions based on a balance

of information? Can they have informed discussions? OR Do Australians

wish to be told what they can read and believe and have or not have by

ill-informed people or vested interests. What are the solutions? You

Decide.
