Dear Group,

I am constantly having to deal with " member issues " . As if I do not

have enough to do with the group already, I get to constantly deal

with members who are unhappy with the way that this group is ran.

Members who are unhappy with their postings not making it to the

group. Members unhappy with any postings that they consider " off-topic " .

These complaints usually come from new members who seeem to be

politically sensitive to anything that might not be favorable to their

pet politician. They never say that it isn't true, just that it is

inappropriate in some other manner. Some just want to spam the group

with their personal free, zero cost ads.

Very seldom does a new person show up here who has a good knowledge of

alternative healing but having limited or no knowledge usually doesn't

stop them from trying to post all kinds of stuff. Most do not bother

to read the front page that says that you can't post commercial crap

here or even that we don't accept attachments. No knowledge doesn't

stop these guys from telling you how it should be done and how they

want it to be done either. I have always wondered if they know how it

should be done then why are they here in the first place, they should

be doing their own group instead of telling me how to run mine. That

way they could have it exactly they way that they like it. If some one

wanted more content covering any certain area, instead of complaining

that someone else isn't providing it why don't they get of their asses

and research that area so THEY could contribute something instead of

just their ads and complaints. They are usually the type that doesn't

appreciate what other do anyway. They consider themselves " special "

and anything others do for them is because it is their due and they " deserve it "

in some way.

No one should complain that there isn't enough alternative health

information to read. There are 30,000 plus articles here in our

archives and probably 26,000 or 27,000 are strictly on a very narrow

interpretation of alternative health. Your health isn't dependent only

on which pill you take but also on which pill that you are " allowed to

take " too. Or which health professional is allowed to say what to you.

Or what foods contain what substances. Or what chemicals or toxins in

our environment are making us sick. Or about a million other things

in our lives that affect our health secondarily.

Because that person is uninformed, misinformed, or ignorant in some

other way doesn't seem like a valid reason to change to please them,

but some each week seem to think it is. We also have an online free web based

message boards that are avalable to members for information. We also have a

links library to many, many noncommercial web sites that cover most areas of

alternative health that anyone here can read. All of those reasources don't

seem to be exactly what they want though as they usually don't bother to read

any of them, they just expect me and a few others to be " on call " to please them

with whatever " they want " in whatever manneer they want it. And if they don't

get it they then get on their high horse and get offended about it. Some are a

real piece of work.

If those people were paying for a subscription service I might

understand their complaints somewhat. If they were helping with

anything around here, they could maybe say that they were not getting something

in recompense, but to do nothing but show up here, pay nothing, do nothing for

others, and expect everyone to kiss their butts seems a little much in my book.

For people like that, I can only say what I would say to them if they were in my

home and personal life is, so long, too bad that it didn't work out and please

watch the door when you leave so that it doesn't damage your posterior.

Well, I feel better already. Just needed to rant a little.

regards,

Frank

Frank-- keep up the good work. people join a group, and we are all at differing

levels of awareness and knowledge. Some of us want to learn, and some of us want

to feel good.

( perhaps, too, some want to keep us dumb ! ) So don't worry about the

ranting-- it's okay. My on;y complaint is I just don't have the time required to

stay current-- Take care-=- Hugh

Re pleasing everyone in a group of almost 3000

members:

Reading the comment about the tens of thousands of

articles in the group archives, I had to laugh. It's

really true. Just type a search term into the group’s

search engine on the group page. There are enough

resources there to satisfy anyone for months of

reading. There are also solutions to many of your

health problems.

Do posts on government corruption and war have any

place in Alternative medicine? I certainly believe

they do. For example, corruption in government leads

to dangerous drugs being approved, poisons in our

water, mercury in the vaccines, troops exposed to

depleted uranium, and many other dangers. Just as you

can’t solve an illness with a pill or with no

understanding of the illness, you can’t expect to heal

your body while ignoring a sick world around you.

It’s all connected. First you need to become better

informed.

I think this group is an opportunity to learn from

others who are caring, literate, and aware and who

have lived enough to have some insight. It’s a site

for those interested in alternative information as

well as a search for the truth, the wholistic truth.

It has certainly been an education for me.

I especially appreciate the group because of Frank's

ability to choose cutting edge articles. Because of

Frank’s dedicated work editing and posting these

materials, there is a huge archive of valuable

resources. Possibly the only person who gets

everything posted is JoAnn Guest, for obvious

reasons—she provides a steady stream of excellent

resources.

In any group, you need to test the waters and see how

it operates. Sometimes taking a wait-and-see approach

is helpful.

You might also consider getting a faster computer, a

better connection, and a better email service. This

might reduce some of your frustration deleting email

you do not want.

If you have AOL, try minimizing the AOL screen and

logging on with mozilla firefox. Then set up a free

account for your email. There are many problems

with AOL’s set up which have led to numerous

complaints, especially concerning it’s email. If

possible, dump AOL.

Also, has increased its storage limit, so you

can now save thousands of emails on your mail

and search your emails for key words. Thanks, .

I suggest everyone get a free email account for

their mail.

But if the problem is you just want to just hear the

party line, I don't think you need to be here, and you

certainly don't need alternative medicine--just go see

your doctor.

i agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments of your post- this group

gives me the benefit of much research -thanks to ones like frank and

joanne. I have the accounts, and use firefox -but i have also

found the mail client thunderbird(mozilla) to be excellent as it gathers

all my mail from each account and saves it to my computer, i can

then read it in my own time and archive the best posts. The variety of

info is of real value in this group from asthma to zinc deficiency, it

is information that should be filed and kept. warm regards to all
