Guest guest
Out of Shape? Getting in shape does not need to take a lot of time or require expensive exercise programs or equipment. Head to the thrift store and buy an exercise video. The good thing about these programs is they do all the thinking for you. You just follow along and do what you are told. The professional trainer on the video thinks you are doing great, and give you lots of positive encouragement. A great deal of scientific knowledge goes into selecting the exercises that will benefit you best. If you are just getting started, think in terms of 15-minute units of exercise. Try to do 15 minutes/day. This might be doing a 15 minute exercise video. These are great if you can find one. A thirty-minute video is twice your goal. Well done! Place a calendar on the wall in easy view and give yourself a star for each 15 minutes your do that day. For example, you might have a starting goal of 3 stars/week. Small steps done regularly will show quick results. Over time, you may give yourself a star for 30 minutes of exercise instead of 15 minutes. Eventually, you might give yourself a star for 45 minutes of exercise. But even just 15 minutes of exercise will make an immediate improvement in your sense of well being. So if you have become a computer potato or are rebuilding your health from an illness or having a baby, why not get started today? Other ideas-Walk around one or two blocks—the idea is to start a regular routine of short, easy, and manageable steps back to fitness and to gradually build on it.
