The best thing IMHO is to go to these folks and ask them to see the Organic Certification for their Certified Organic oils (like organic produce and foods sellers have) and ask them for copies of their GC's - batch and lot# specific >> I did get that organic orange from Lebermuth. They will provide GCs, and I asked for them, but have never read one in my life. Their labels include the lot number. Shivani
Guest guest
Hi, The name doesn't mean anything to me either.. but the fact that they'll provide the GC's does. To look at it another way, I know of several of my own suppliers who obtain the GC's and then retest the oils at another lab - thereby proving or disproving the original GC test... their willingness to provide one would kind of tell me that they're willing to let you check it...........just my opinion though. The sure test if you're allergic to synthetic stuff, is take a big sniff? <grin> My face would instantly swell if there were fo's in with the oil. Good luck, Marilyn SArjuna wrote: > <<: Re: " organic " or b.s.? > > The best thing IMHO is to go to these folks and ask them to see the > Organic Certification for their Certified Organic oils (like organic > produce and foods sellers have) and ask them for copies of their GC's - > batch and lot# specific >> > > I did get that organic orange from Lebermuth. Guest guest
Quality Assurance International is a certification that the facility is an organic processing plant. They assure that the standards are adhered to at the plant to maintain the integrity of the organic grown materials. The company that I purchase my herbs for resell are certified by them as well. That's what I know about it. Have a great day. Patty Corapi In a message dated 1/11/02 4:53:57 PM Eastern Standard Time, SArjuna writes: > I did get that organic orange from Lebermuth. Guest guest
SArjuna Fri, 11 Jan 2002 16:45:15 EST I did get that organic orange from Lebermuth. Came with a bright red stick-on label saying it was certified organic by " Quality Assurance International. " Name means nothing to me, as I am not in the business. Does it to you guys? They will provide GCs, and I asked for them, but have never read one in my life. Their labels include the lot number. QAI is a well respected certification organization. Keep in mind that the separate cert orgs no longer have their own standards. Within the US, everyone has to meet the USDA standards to be called " organic. " But the same 3rd party certification agencies are still doing the work. These rules took effect Fall 2000 so products older than that will be under the old rules. Another thing to keep in mind is that there are currently no standards whatsoever for personal care products. As much as we hate it, it means that anyone can call anything organic. Look at the marketing for Clairol Herbal Essensse shampoo. " A totally organic experience. " The only thing organic about that product is that they paid their organic chemists a boatload of money to come up with the formula. This should change in the next couple of years as there is a committee working on the organic standards for personal care products. To find organic certifiers (or anything else), go to http://www.ota.com/online%20directory/Directory%20nest.htm and click on " type of business " then choose " certifier. " You can find QAI's listing here: http://216.185.153.30/ota/OTAdetails.cfm?ID=3327 and their website is here: http://www.Qai-Inc.com Cyndi -- ________________________ Cyndi Norman cyndi Owner of the Immune Website & Lists http://www.immuneweb.org/ Tikvah -- Organic and Natural Products http://www.tikvah.com/ Handcrafted organic soaps & cosmetics, organic bedding, safety equipment ________________________
