Guest guest
I was about to order unrefined oils for making skin balms, when I read the following quote from Sylla Sheppard-Hangar. Will appreciate comments from anyone who is experienced. Thanks! Happy New Year, everybody! Shivani Also, the unrefined oils may sound " good and natural " , but remember that natural is not always better. Unrefined oils contain all sorts of undesirable things including viable fungal spores that can grow when in contact with water (such as in an open wound, broken skin). IMO, it is much safer to use the refined vegetal oils on the skin. Sylla Sheppard -Hanger
Guest guest
IF what she says is true, then HOW can they sell unrefined oils for eating - if its full of fungal spores and all that crap? That would make you VERY SICK TO EAT THAT! I use ONLY unrefined oils for cooking, and mostly unrefined oils for my body care products! Never have I heard ANYONE complain about unrefined oils in general having fungal and bacterial problems like that and I have dealt with MANY people in my days that only eat unrefined oils and only use unrefined oils for on the body! If we believe what Syllah states below then we also need to believe for example .. Butch's Unrefined Early Harvest Extra Virgin Olive Oil is poison that isn't fit for human consumption OR human skin application - and that is just not true.) I like, and promote Syllah's book, and she is a knowledgeable woman, but I personally think she missed the boat on this one - JMHO .... *Smile* Chris (list mom and former manager of a health food store) http://www.alittleolfactory.com SArjuna wrote: > I was about to order unrefined oils for making skin balms, when I > read > the following quote from Sylla Sheppard-Hangar. Guest guest
Shivani I use only unrefined organic olive oil in my balms- and it works great- I dont recommend using balms on broken skin anyway- as they seal in what needs to get out-use balms once skin has begun to heal... I am an advocate of unrefined food grade oils and have used them in my massage practice(sesame , olive, safflower) without a problem .I use my blue cham/ lavender EO blend, hydrosols, or herbal sprays like calendula on cuts,scrapes.,etc....
