Feng Shui in the home

I got into a little bit of Feng Shui when I had my shop. One of the interior

decorators was really into it. One of the main things is to block any door

that is exactly opposite the fromt door or your money will go straight

through the frount door right out the back door if they're in a straight line

with each other ( kinda like the " gunbarrel " houses of the south). Both the

doors to my shop were directly in line with the front door of the Emporium.

To deter that, since there was a glass transom above the door to the entrance

to my shop, we put a fish tank over the doorway with goldfish in it. But it

didn't stop theives from taking stuff out the front door! LOL

I have a great book on Feng Shui written by Lillian Too, Some of the things

she addresses are, to determine your auspicious corners, find your good

fortune directions, be aware of the energies in your space,identify

inauspicious structures around you, counter " arrows that hit your main door,

sleep with your head positioned correctly, and take care of your " rice bowl " .

A truly great way of activating excellent feng shui luck inside the home is

to keep some goldfish in an aquarium. Keep nine goldfish, of which eight

should be red or golden and one should be black. If your goldfish die on you,

do not fret. Simply get some more and replenish the aquarium. When one's fish

die it is believed that they have absorbed some bad luck that waas meant for

a resident of the household.

However do not keep goldfish in the bedroom, in the toilets or in the

kitchen. They are especially harmful in the bedroom as they can cause you to

suffer some material losses. You could end up being burgled or robbed. Keep

your aquarium either in the living room or position it outside the front of

your house.From now until the year 2003, the best location to keep a goldfish

aquarium is in the East, South-east, North or South-west. To identify the

ablolute best location also depends on the direction your from door faces,

and the formula is too complicated to present here. just make sure you do not

keep goldfish any where other than in those four locations. Water features

are very tricky in feng shui. Get it right and it brings enormous luck. Get

it wrong and it becomes very dangerous. A third rule is to never place your

water feature, and especially a carp pond on the right-hand side of your main

door (i.e. taking the direction from the inside facing outwards) since this

causes the man of the house to have a roving eye!

Displaying some beneficial calligrapgy , such as the " fook " luck symbol, on

the walls is widely used as it is thought to bring good fortune to the people

who use it.

Images of Peonies or the real flowers are believed to encourage romance for

single women.They can be placed in the romance direction in the living room,

or a picture can be hung just outside the bedroom door.

A laden orange tree symbolizes the arrival of good fortune and prosperity.

placing one in the South-east corner of your garden is auspicious as this is

your wealth area.

Hanging three Chinese coins threaded with red ribbon or cotton on the door

handles of your main doors can bring good fortune into your home.

In the kitchen, the hob or oven should never be placed next to the sink,

Brooms and mops are associated with the " sweeping " out of the negative and

stale energy of the home, but should always be kept out of sight.

Be careful not to overdecorate your toilet as this area always drains away

energy from your home.

Open shelf units take on the appearance of knives. But by standing books

flush to the edges you can help to reduce the bad effects.

Mandarin ducks represent love and romance, so a wallhanging or a painting can

be placed in the south-west corner of your bedroom.

Mirrors in the bedroom cause problems. They posses a very special form of

energy which can either be very good or very bad.

Never plaace your bed so that your feet face the door. The best place to

position our bed is diagonally opposite the door.

Hanging crystals can be placed in a sunny window to catch the sunlight,

create attractive rainbow patterns, and bring in good yang energy. A

windchime can also add to the beneficial effect. For commitment in your

relationship, try energizing your south-west bedrom corner with a crystal and

a bright light.

There are a gazillion " rules " in feng shui, and I suggest you go to the

library and find a good book to read to glean important information if

you're really serious about praacticing the art of feng shui. You'll be
