Guest guest
Hi Michele, All, What makes the M & P soaps drying are two things ..... one .. the fact that many (not all) of the bases are made from crappy detergents, and two ..... the fact that it takes a LOT of alcohol to make transparent soap. Those are the two reasons that folks with dry skin may be better off not using transparent soaps (at least not for body soap). *Smile* Chris (list mom) Happy Holidays! http://www.alittleolfactory.com Michele at Home wrote: > Hi! > I've always been sort of wary of the M & P soaps for my use since I have > such > dry skin. Guest guest
Chris- I am going to show my ignorance here...are glycerin type soap all M & P? I still have not made soap but it is on the spring project list. Dr & I are on the road, just had to bring the laptop to keep up. We leave Indianapolis this morning to head to Nashville, Indiana, (a small town in southern Indiana deep in the hardwood forest for two days of R & R after visiting family before we return to Madison.) Hope every one had an enjoyable holiday. Well, one can make a transparent glycerin soap from scratch that is not a melt and pourable soap (rebatching it doesn't work so well) so there MAY be some soap makers out there selling a glycerin bar that is NOT melt and pour .. but it is rather rare .... > > I still have not made soap but it is on the spring project list. Melt and pour .. or rebatching base is certainly and easy way to start and making a SMALL batch with lye is also easy and not intimidating > > Dr & I are on the road, just had to bring the laptop to keep up.
