Guest guest
Hi all and Soseneda Today with my order I also received a banquet of herbs from Soseneda. My daughter and I spent half an hour sniffing and ooohing and aaaahing over the smells. I chuckled over the " Hot Pack " because in spite of the fact that I sell those things, I don't (didn't) own one. Everytime I would get one, one of my kids would steal it for their own. After the third one, I gave up! LOL My eldest saw this one and tried to run off with it, but this time I put my foot down, " NO! MINE! Get Lost! " Language she understood! ROFL Right now it's sitting on my sore shoulder (slept wrong). Thank you so MUCH, and I'm NOT sharing ;-) Now. I'm not an herbalist. I've got all these herbs and I don't know exactly what to do them. One of them I haven't heard of before. So...Help please. Too darned lazy to go drag out my herb books. Nettle Leaf... I know you make tea, but I can't remember what for... Hops...For sleeplessness, I can make a little pillow with this, other hints? Scullcap...believe it or not, I did some research on this one for a paper once...can't remember a THING. Marshmallow Root...Calming..Relaxing? Cramp Bark...Okay? What? I'm assuming all these can be made into tea... And...Uva Ursi Leaf...Que? This one I would say rings no bells at all, except for a little ting-a-ling in the back of my brain... I also recieved some annointing and dressing oil, it has the most interesting collection of herbs in it. Smells DIVINE...Am thinking I might use this for Theo's naming day. Want to know if this would be an apropriate choice. The Healing Salve smells lovely. Soseneda I was so staggard and my computer desk is starting to smell REALLY nice. I think I'm going to drag out my herb books anyway. Still looking forward to other suggestions however... Cheers! Guest guest
Hehe, thought I would just sneak that stuff in:) The hot pack can be a cold pack too. Just pop it in the freezer. It is made of rice, flax seed and my menstrual cramp blend, so you can sleep with it and it wont ever be too hot. " So...Help please. Too darned lazy to go drag out my herb books. " I can do that " Nettle Leaf... I know you make tea, but I can't remember what for... " Nettle balances women's hormones, it tones and cleans out the uterus. It is perfect to drink at that four week mark after birth, and during PMS and menstruation (it basically makes PMS non existent, and beginning cramps go to) " Hops...For sleeplessness, I can make a little pillow with this, other hints? " It is also great brewed as a tea, or in warm milk to help with milk production. It will bring in milk, help to boost milk output, and regulate the flow to avoid those overstuffed times when the kid is slowing down the eating. " Scullcap...believe it or not, I did some research on this one for a paper once...can't remember a THING. " This is a sedative, like valerian. It is child safe when brewed weak (1 teaspoon per 1.5 cups of water). You can also brew it adult strength and just dose a teaspoon to the baby (adult strength is 1 tbsp per 1 cup of water) " Marshmallow Root...Calming..Relaxing? " Marshmallow Root is a demulcent. Eases digestive problems, and soothes the digestive track. Think acid reflux:) It has a high mucilage content, so it is also often used in balms for stretch mark healing. " Cramp Bark...Okay? What? " This is a relaxant, especially for muscle spasms. Often as the uterus goes back to normal size after childbirth, spasming can be very painful. It also has an astringent action on the uterus, and can help to treat excessive bleeding. " I'm assuming all these can be made into tea... " Yeppers, or used in lotions, creams, etc. " And...Uva Ursi Leaf...Que? This one I would say rings no bells at all, except for a little ting-a-ling in the back of my brain... " Uva Ursi is an anti-adherent. IT works on the urinary tract and makes it so that bacteria can not cling onto the bladder or urethra (kidneys too). Bleeding for six weeks or more can make it a bit messy and give rise to urinary infections. Hence this is there to help with that. " I also received some anointing and dressing oil, it has the most interesting collection of herbs in it. Smells DIVINE...Am thinking I might use this for Theo's naming day. Want to know if this would be an appropriate choice. " Yep, it is made for blessing babies and children. Good stuff if I say so myself:) " The Healing Salve smells lovely. " This stuff is great for stretch marks, and foot rubs! Also works good on baby bottoms to seal out the wetness. " Soseneda I was so staggered and my computer desk is starting to smell REALLY nice. I think I'm going to drag out my herb books anyway. Still looking forward to other suggestions however... " Glad you liked it. Enjoy that precious bundle. It > is perfect to drink at that four week mark after birth, and during PMS > and menstruation (it basically makes PMS non existent, and beginning > cramps go to) Nettle also is very high in chlorophyll, and minerals like calcium and iron, also silica- it is an excellent nutritive herb- and good to drink on a regular basis- the ultimate " green food " and cheaper than spirulina..if you are wildcrafting this herb, care must be taken as to whats upstream, as this perrenial takes up heavy metals from toxic farming, factories,etc... > " Hops...For sleeplessness, I can make a little pillow with this, other > hints? This is a good one for bladder infections- a strong decoction will soothe and prevent movement to the kidneys. Also helpful for lung and throat irritation. > > " Cramp Bark...Okay? What? Great for right after birth- when the nursing makes your uterus cramp and you grimace. > > > " And...Uva Ursi Leaf...Que? Hence this is there to help with that. > Uva ursi is a strong astringent- and is best not taken unless you have a UTI-especially the kind from too many sweets and other carbs. Then only for a couple of days. You are better off starting with a marshmallow root decoction and eating blueberries(yum). This herb has been traditionally used to prevent postpartum infection-(which you are pretty much past danger of!)- but it is a strong herb, and if you are drinking nettle infusion and the occasional marshmallow decoction, this should be fine. Uva ursi does work well for UTIs, it may irritate your stomach and perhaps even your kidneys. You can take this in lesser amounts with marshmallow for a less irritaing brew. It is GREAT for sitz baths after birth...(which you probably dont need anymore) The hops pillow sounds good....maybe with a little chamomile, lavender and mint...yum... Many blessings Michelle
