Guest guest
Hi y'all, I like to share some posts I make on other lists with this one so folks here can maybe learn or get a chance to disagree and teach us something - and here's one I made today. --------------------------- Gonna give you a different slant on this ... an opinion you might wanna bounce off that of the 99% of folk's post you relate to below. > I am SOOO new to this but I read a lot before I try anything. Even > though I cannot tell you from personal experience, from what I have > seen in 99% of other ppl's posts and from talking to many other > soapers is that there is almost no value to using tea in CP due to > the saponification. Rebatch is another story. Most of the soapers I > have talked to love tea, but they use it for rebatching only and VERY > VERY STRONG TEA. I wish I could tell you i know this for a fact but > if anyone disagrees, PLEASE LET US KNOW! :-) I disagree and I'm gonna let you know .. and let you know why too .. :-) It's good to read .. great to research .. but you gotta be selective as possible afore you accept opinions as fact. Anyone who tells you that saponification has a negative impact on the therapeutic value of any essential oil or herb or whatever, is giving an uninformed opinion. Try to get a chemist to confirm such statements and they'll tell you what I've just writen or you will see them start to dance around the issue. Bottom line is that with the exception of a few of the several hundred SINGLE chemical components we've been able to identify through modern analysis techniques, we just don't know the answer. I'm pretty savy on essential oils and I'll admit to not knowing the answer too .. it's those who aren't savy who seem to think they have answers .. and they need to be watched closely .. ;-p Testing to determine an answer would be very detailed and very iffy. First ... it's almost impossible to determine/quantify therapeutic value of a natural synergistic formula to begin with ... we can determine this if we extract a single chemical component and test it in isolation .... but isolation is not the way the Great Everywhere Spirit has organized Nature's wild aromatic plants so testing chemicals in isolation (after extraction from natural synergies) is superficial, a waste of time and money and tells us exactly nothing. That's why we don't know .. :-) > > I was wondering if anyone had made CP soap using herbal tea. Do I > > yse a different amount of tea versus plain water? Do any of the > > herbal properties survive the suponification process? > > > > Thank you for your time; Lemme say that a lot of folks use essential oils instead of fragrance oils in their soaps and I don't think they do this just to get a better odor as the range of man-made odors of FOs is much wider. They also buy my herbal teas for soaps and seem to like the effects .. they like the grinders too .. ;-p Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Wholesale/Retail GC Tested EOs, Rose Otto, Hydrosols, and lots of other goodies.
