Guest guest
Hi Cathy, > Hi, I just joined the list and wanted to introduce myself ~ my name is Cathy > and I'm a single mother of two girls age 8 years and 4 months. I live in > Upstate NY and I'm very interested in learning more about herbs and oils. Welcome fer'shur. :-) > For personal use I'm more interested in oils (mostly because I like the > smells), but I'm also involved in writing fiction (just an amature) in If you wanna write fiction .. sign up as a Young Living distributor and get their list of what their oils can do .. and see how their Guru has been brought back from being paralyzed and then ordained by Gawd to bring healing to the world .. but don't drink any Kool Aid if they offer ... ;-p Or join the Idma Aromatherapy List (where there is some good info) and watch a couple of the obsessed marketers push their products .. pull some wild disease out of your mind and ask a question and watch one or two of them walk on egg shells and tell you how " they have received such good feedback from clients on their special blend of humma-humma, dingdong and whoopie officinalis. " > I love to throw in a bunch of herb lore and/or use herbs in my story > lines (for both medicinal and murderous reasons, among others), so I'm > hoping there's a lot of knowledgable people here who won't mind pesky > questions that may also be a little off-the-wall. Aromatherapy as an industry is an off-the-wall cottage industry in which many of the marketers use misinformation/disinformation/rumor and hype to push their products - they take the popular aromatherapy novels and try to proclaim that they have had good luck using the oils in those novels for the purposes stated .. and sometimes, they use the known effects of isolated chemicals to extrapolate the effects it might have when used in a natural synergy .. which is a part of the rumor that keeps many folks from using safe oils for therapeutic benefit. There are other folks who use oils properly in the right amounts in the right and safe manner for the right reasons and gain great benefit. What I'm saying is that Aromatherapy as an industy stinks - but the oils smell great and they are very helpful to the mind, body and soul. > Something like " what kind of herb might cause severe hemmoraghing? " I recommend you go to these URLs and start to learn a lot because any time you ask a question on essential oils you will get five different answers from three different people - you gotta learn enough to be able to separate the wheat from the chaf. This is not so much the case with use of herbs because there are a few thousand years of known usuage in that area. http://www.nature-helps.com/agora/agora.html http://www.aromamedical.demon.co.uk/ > or " What might be used to treat a severe cough? " Expectorant for the symptoms or killing the cause ? They will ask? Of course, a medical doctor will give you an expectorant and antibotics to ensure that your immune system stays out of whack and you will return to them soon. > But know I'm on the edge of my seat wondering what the heck " YL " and > " Raindrop " are. I'm fascinated by what I've read so far, but I'm still > basically clueless, so I'd appreciate it if someone could explain for a > novice. Then go here to the YL files, read and then decide for yourself http://www.fragrant.demon.co.uk/ylfiles.html If you are interested in the two foundation reference publications for aromatherapy and essential oils, ask me and I'll tell you where you can get them .. ;-p > Thanks, > Cathy Welcome you are .. and keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
