I just want to quickly pipe in how amazing it is the news events we so

clearly remember ... whether we were very young, or older. I can

remember the funeral of the Pope who was (dare I say) killed - John Paul

I, I remember seeing the Challenger disaster live on TV (both of those

actually were with my Grandma), I remember President Reagan and

Secretary Brady being shot ... and of course I will always remember WTC

collapsing live on TV .. and I do wonder if my little one will remember

any part of that at all as I had that on TV for DAYS after that event

and I have memories as far back as to when I was only 1 & 1/2 ......

oh gosh TV and being a Tot...

so true i remember all of the ones you mentioned....

include Diana's Wedding, the fellow she married is not so hot but she

was a winner..

and her " car accident " right!?...

TV was not even available for me at one and 2 years of age... but I

remember much.. the ktla indian.. the test pattern , Howdy Doody, Cecil

the Seasick Sea serpent and his buddy Beany... and my dad glued to the

set getting a crick in his neck at Thanksgiving dinners and having the

tv turned off .. because of the draw of attention... we had a goo life ,

recliner chairs tv trays, tv diners, and one of the first remote

controls to a big haha screen tv... and the first color tv we had..

*the big video tape of our minds.. that is a great place i finally

trained it by watching Smurfs on TV and replaying them in color in my

mind just to exercise the memory part of my mind... tv is great in my

opinion ..as is the computer now..

of course real life occurred too and there are memories there ....the

mementos are different

I just think that some basic nerve endings are stimulated and keyed off

that great tube...

Memory in function with time and the short term memory is often a lot

slippery... and the long term memory has its potential faults ... yet

the older we get the clearer " way back there " becomes?.. interesting

huh?.

hug with ya.

The one that gets me is when people talk about 30 and 40 years ago like

it was really really a long time ago and I stop and think, no it wasn't

that long ago. lol

'Back' in the 60's and 70's, come on now, I was just a kid. It couldnt'

have been 'that' long ago, could it?

DH is about to hit 50 this next year. We talk about people we've known

but havent seen for awhile and how they're 'getting up there' judging by

their looks when we finally see them then we realize they're maybe 10 or

15 or so years older than we are....Ooops, reality check. Then he says

'I guess they're not that old after all, huh?'. That one cracks me up

everytime.

Then I laugh at the teens and 20 somethings who can't understand why we

think the way we do on some things, I remember my parents saying,

'you'll see what I mean, you'll understand...someday'. I do see and now

say the same thing to them.
