Guest guest
Hello All, Today we had our second Thanksgiving away from Connecticut. Different in so many ways...........felt bad till we talked to our son and then felt so great to hear him saying he loved and missed us...........then the phone rang once again and this time it was our " other " son, one of the one's who's lived with us many times-- calling for the same thing.. sharing love and missing us. Called our 80 year old Aunt - she's freezing there - we're not, we are thankful <not that she is, but that we're not!> Thankful for our loved ones ............who number many all over the place. Looked outside and realized we have a lemon that's bigger than the last one which was bigger than a grapefruit, nice and yellow and ripe! Looked so pretty we left it till tomorrow. Roses are still blooming as are daisies, mums, azaelas, hibiscus, geraniums and various other stuff. So pretty. Makes you aware of just how much we have to be thankful for........our sight for one. Appreciation of beauty. Something that was nice, an unexpected nice, was not having to rush to get this " huge " dinner ready........thought I'd miss it and didn't!!!!!!!!! Had a smaller version of what we'd been doing for years back north, and were able to take our time, Mark and I and just relax and enjoy it. Even took a nap afterwards - yes, we KNOW that's the worst time to nap but it sure felt good. Everything smelled so good cooking.. am thankful I can cook and enjoy the smells from the kitchen. And thankful to have plenty of food. Some don't. Don't know of a shelter around here to volunteer at, but we'll find something.........and will enjoy every minute of it like we did when we volunteered back north. We're thankful for our home, our kitties, our love, each other, friends and family. We're thankful nobody seemed to have bombed anything over in the US today. I'm thankful to you, Chris for this list, through it and cuz of you, we've all met some really wonderful people. And I'm having fun playing online now. Spent a small amount of time online earlier in the morning chatting with people back north. Nice to get in touch even for a few minutes that way............ We're thankful for our furry family who also had their turkey dinner today. (they took naps afterwards too) Thanksgiving makes you think. All year we kind of focus on what's not so good, and some of the good........ - to me, and I'm part Native American and a lot of other stuff, I don't relate Thanksgiving to all that - I relate it to taking a day and thinking about just how good we all have it here. Cuz we do. Happy Thanksgiving to you all, and thanks for being there; all of you! God Bless America! Hugs, Marilyn
