Oh I hate all the diaper bags you can buy. When Alec was born my MIL wanted to buy a diaper bag. I wanted to just make one, but she seems to enjoy spending money, so who am I to complain:)

We finally found one that is just solid navy blue. It looks more like luggage than a diaper bag. It is very functional. I have had it for 2 1/2 years now, and it has always been great. It is basically a big rectangle. Has a shoulder strap, and handles that snap together (I snap them together over extra jackets or the current favorite stuffed toy). Then there is a front packet that zips, with lots of little netted pockets inside and some elastic bands for bottles and such. In there I keep all the medicine type stuff for both kids. Then on the front is a clear pocket that is open. I use that for sticking in pieces of paper with info for the babysitter. On the sides are a zippered pocket, and an open pocket (both on each). The zippered pockets hold baby immunizations sheets, hospital release forms (signed and ready for admittance), allergy sheets, kid's passports, and other medical info. The other side holds extra socks! (something my kids go through at an amazing rate somehow). The outside pockets hold a cup with a closing straw and a bottle. Inside the big thing are diapers (god I wish I could still do cloth diapers, but there is no washing machine in my house, so I tried it for about two months, and it was an absolute nightmare), wipes (these are cloth:), dirty wipes bags (just some mini trash can bags on a roll), two changes of clothes for each kid (they are all folded down and go in some side pouches inside, so they stay out of the way), a changing pad, several books, and a teething thingy.

In the medical stuffs, I carry Tylenol for each kid, Power Punch Salve (for cuts and scrapes), Mother's Touch Salve (for bruises and bumps), and Super Skin Salve (for diaper rash or breakouts). Then I keep a little tube of teething jelly that I make for drake. It is just a slightly fruity jelly in a chap stick tube with some clove bud oil in it. There is also a thermometer, and a booklet of child first aid (how to do cpr on a baby or young child, the hymlic for little kids and babies, etc). There is a package of band-aids, and a tube of anti bacterial cream (yeah, made that too). A bottle of Alec's vitamins, and a set of mini thermal blankets (they fold up tiny and go in a little locking case).

Hey, I think that is everything:)

Oh Ann, that's just what I've been thinking reading through all these posts !

Waiting for my son to find his lady & become parents - and I'm not in any hurry

for that to happen. Not really. Oh no. *chuckles* The dear boy is only 22 - I

might leave it for a few years before I start hassling him about grandkids *lol*

Blessings,

Jane :-))
