You have an incredibly blessed backgroung regarding holistic health, and Im

sure you have received a good education from Clayton in herbs and natural

healing- but I must comment in the Naturopathic Doctor bit...there are only

four schools in North America who currently graduate " ND " s

Accredited Schools

The accrediting agency for naturopathic medical schools and programs in

North America is the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). The

CNME issues a bulletin twice a year giving the accrediting status of each of

the institutions it is engaged with. At this time, there are four accredited

institutions:

Bastyr University

14500 Juanita Drive, NE

Kenmore, WA 98011

(425) 823-1300

Bastyr Natural Health Clinic: (206) 632-0354

National College of Naturopathic Medicine

049 SW Porter

Portland, OR 97201

(503) 499-4343

Clinic: (503) 255-7355

Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences 2140 East

Broadway

Tempe, AZ 85282

(480) 858-9100

Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine

1255 Sheppard Avenue, E

North York, ON M2K 1E2

(416) 498-1255

The University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine was granted

candidacy status by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education on March

31, 2001 at their meeting in Tempe, Arizona.

University of Bridgeport

College of Natural Medicine

60 Lafayette Street

Bridgeport, CT 06601

(203) 576-4109

Candidacy is not accreditation, nor does it assure eventual accreditation.

It is a status of affiliation with the Council that indicates a college or

program satisfies the eligibility requirements, complies with the standards

to the degree expected for its stage of development, and has demonstrated

the potential for achieving accreditation within five years of having

obtained candidacy. Candidates are reviewed at least every two years.

For further information on accreditation, please contact the CNME, P. O. Box

11426, Eugene, OR 97440-3626; 541-484-6028. http://www.cnme.org

I just Needed to post this- as this is a big concern for those who have

graduated from these schools...and those seeking Naturopaths-

There are many qualified practitioners of holistic health and herbalism- and

if your state licenses you under these titles, then great- but the ND

licensing is not constant in all states...

States in which you can get licensed as an ND:

If you're an ND who has graduated from one of the eligible ND schools you

can get licensed in these states:

Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Montana, Oregon,

Washington, Utah.

after passing the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Exam (NPLEx).

There are additional recognized ND licenses in Florida. No new licenses are

being granted there, however.

British Columbia and Ontaria currently license NDs who pass licensing exams

and who have graduated from any of the legitimate naturopathic medical

schools with an ND.

This doesnt mean you arent a qualified practitioner, just not an ND...

I think your policy on suggesting herbs online is a good one...I get carried

away sometimes...and am used to private/ other herbal forums where people

share these things openly with other folks who are usually practitioners ...

thanks for listening

Michelle

I am going through the Herbal Healer Academy. After I complete my exams

with them, then I must apply for board certification through the ANMCAB.

From there I have to pass their exam to get my certification and be

recognized legally.

But my training is completed when I complete my final exam from HHA. I

am just not legal until I am certified by the ANMCAB.

Blessings,

Then you will be an herbalist, right? HHA is not one of the accredited

schools to graduate Naturopathic Doctors. Holistic practitioners, sure, but

Naturopaths receive a full 4-5 years of hands on graduate school...

The way I understand it, I will be an Nd when I get certified through

the ANMCAB. Since you brought all of this up, I have been looking into

it more closely. I did know about the four schools, etc. But from what I

had read, if you couldn't attend the schools for some reason there was

an alternate track.

I do know, that legally speaking, I will have the same rights and

privileges as an MD. Have to find out more here.

The education is really different- Im sure you have learned A LOT and I dont

mean to insult you- but this is a big issue with the accrediting board of

the aforementioned schools, and the NDs who have graduated from them

check into it
