Guest guest
Anyone know of any humane ways to catch a rat?? My mom just called me in hysterics, LOL, they just saw a rat in their workshop and she wants to catch it and set it free *away* from the shop....before my dad kills it. Any ideas of how to lure it out of hiding????? I know one thing....I'm NOT going there to help them!!! ewww!!!! Guest guest
Honestly I understand the not wanting to kill things and all, but really it should probably be killed. The droppings will attract other rodents, and are probably full of stuff humans don't want to catch. If you catch the rat and release it somewhere, it will most likely come back and bring its family. If you take it far away enough that it takes a week or two to come back, you will most likely get sick from handling the thing for that long. After you catch or kill it, you need to clean like crazy. Vacuum and wipe down everything with something to remove the scent and kill the bacteria. And wipe down the outside bottom of the house with the same stuff (some lemon something eo would be perfect here). This way you wont leave the door open with the marked trail for the other rodents. Guest guest
thanks soseneda...I'm passing this info on to my mother, luckily there house is acres away from my dads workshop, so hopefully this little critter wont try to go in there...probably wouldn't want to, its impossible clean! LOL...anyway, my parents aren't really concerned with not hurting critters or animals or whatever..I think my mom is more worried about what my dad will destroy in the process of trying to kill the rat...lol.... neither of them have ever seen a rat and are *pretty* aggitated with it, lol. thanks again... - Soseneda Saturday, November 10, 2001 11:52 AM RE: rats? <<<shudder>>> Honestly I understand the not wanting to kill things and all, but really it should probably be killed.
