Guest guest
Speaking of John Wayne tonight ..... since this is a subject near and ear to me actually ..... My Dad (whom I was VERY close with and died when I was 17) just LOVED John Wayne! My Dad was a NYC Democrat, Yankee, who lived his whole life in NYC, and never traveled west of Pennsylvania, but he just loved the Duke. I grew up with The Duke ..He IS a household name even to little children still today, and he never hurt anyone to get that fame! I know the movie " The Searchers " by heart, and ya know something, even IF John Wayne is bit goofy, especially these days ... I still say, go Duke! God/dess I wish there were more really " manly men " white guys named Marion who can play Genghis Khan and get away with it! <::Big Grinz::> http://encarta.msn.com/find/Concise.asp?z=1 & pg=2 & ti=761573484 http://members.aol.com/fortscott/index.html http://www.fortunecity.com/millenium/bankhead/399/index.html http://www.skyecom.net/jwayne/index.shtml http://members.aol.com/fortscott/part-3.htm *Smile* Chris (list mom) Celtic Sea Salt Sale! http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Jim, Wow, you met him!!. The only stars I have ever met and talked to was Roseanne(WooHoo) & Tom Arnold. Tom is from Ottumwa, closest large town to me. They both bought a farm here just outside of Eldon and had a restaurant in Eldon, till they split. Their half-built mansion is still here. She DID NOT impress me in the least. One day the my phone rang and a woman asked for Tom, I said "I think you have the wrong number" and she said "ohhh" ya know how she does it, real nasal tone. "Sorry" and she hung up. They had an open house at their restaurant and the fire & rescue I belonged to had to be there for first aid reasons and that is when I met them. My hubby had to work on their limo one day when it broke down on the side of the road. Tom is a likable guy though. Guest guest
BTW...my favorite Duke movie is Rio Bravo. Maybe because not only does it have the Duke in it, but also Dean Martin.....ohhhhh sooooo dreamy......and Ricky Nelson, both of them sing in it no less. Guest guest
Hi all, John "The Duke" Wayne, is, was, and always will be , MY HERO! I don't have a lot of respect for a lot of men but, IMHO, he was the epitome of a real man! Sadly, I never had the privilege of meeting him, but sure wish I had. And Mr. Butch Owen, wherever you are, I think you make a great comparison to him. I feel your integrity and demenor are a shining example to men everywhere. In other words guy, You're my horse if you never win a race! LOL Deonia
