Guest guest
As a bleeding heart liberal, news like this bothers me, because they've proven that each and everyone of them are terrorists, right? I suppose my attitude should be, " so what if a few innocent people get stepped on, hurt, tossed around like so much garbage, as long as it's for the greater good " . Once again, people are going to misunderstand, so I'll be a little more clear. I couldn't give a rats ass for Bin Laden, or any other terrorist, the more that are caught and dealth with, the better. What I DO worry about are all these little steps that can gradually chip away at our constitution until there is nothing LEFT of the " United States " . You see, according to Bush, and all his people, this may take time, but there WILL be an end. Does that mean all these newly granted powers will end? Will the FBI and the CIA be put back on a leash? I highly doubt it. And just how far are these powers going to be extended in the name of " national security " ? As for Bush (Yes, I can see you stiffen and take a big breath, ready to jump all over me), I will admit he's managed to appear more credible than I gave him credit for(yes that's a backhanded compliment), and considering the cow pat that has landed in his lap, he's done shockingly well, but... As far as THIS chick is concerned, the jury is still out. I want to see what happens in the next few months before I make any final opinions about his performance. Sure wish Colin Powell could be more of a presence. Now THERE's someone with credibility. Cheers! I agree that so far he's doing well with this whole terrorism thing, but there's a lot more to running this country than just this war. I didn't like the things he was doing before 9/11; and while I'm supporting him fully in the war on terrorism, I haven't yet found a reason to vote for him if he runs again. This whole civil rights thing is SUCH a gray area. Yes we need to clamp down right now, but when this is over, will things loosen up? If so, how much? How much *should* we loosen up? Part of the reason we got hit so easily on 9/11 is because our country is so open and our intelligence services had been put on a leash. There are no easy answers. We don't want to give up our civil rights, but we need to tighten up in some areas for the nation's safety. So who draws the line? And where is it drawn? My brain hurts. :-) -- Sandy
