Guest guest
Effie, Jim & all..... I am in rural Eldon. Just SE of Ottumwa on the Des Moines River. About 50 miles (I think) west of Ft. Madison, Jim. I used to have relatives there. I have been in Iowa all of my life, except for the short time we lived in FL. "You can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl." That is me. Guest guest
<<some how I think I have heard of Eldon....>> Jim.... Eldon's claim-to-fame is the American Gothic House. You all have seen Grant Wood's painting American Gothic, with the sour faced couple standing with a pitch fork in front of a house. Well, that house is in Eldon. We have annual celebration in June called Gothic Days. Eldon used to be a railroad town too before Burlington Northern closed down here. No tracks anymore.
