Guest guest
Hi Kelly, Just found your post - sorry to in " any " way offend you - and never thought of it as such.. figured the subject being roosters would do it ... oh well.. Keep in mind that if you are/aren't a vegetarian and nobody has a way of knowing that on-list and therefore also has no way of knowing that these things are offensive to one.. lots of people on here have farms, or have come from farming backgrounds. Basic chain of nature - other animals eat other ones... lots of us humans raise their own veggies, fruit and meat. I personally don't raise meat but since I purchase it at the grocery store..............well... I am eating it. We are animal LOVERS - before we moved we had our own NON-profit shelter - took in anything! And took care of all...........even when we had to go without to do it. After moving down here and seeing the lil cute anthills (we moved from Connecticut to Florida), that I used to sit by and feed by the hour.. turn into BIG anthills with fireants in them.. they're all over here! Left untreated, the hills that is, will turn huge and can actually kill a person or a cow!!! I've been stung, it hurts. And.......seeing the lil spiders lookin really BIG and they're concrete ones as well so they do bite - well... yes, we do get rid of them --- putting them outside is not to work as ants live there anyways.. spiders make their way right back to ya. <sigh> Basically though we're still animal lovers, big time! Though we do always keep in mind that lots of people raise their own and they're part of the food chain, and I respect them too-- farming's a lot of work! And a fine way to live as well. Take care and no offense meant, k? Hugs, Marilyn PS - OK.. we use a pest control place.. so we can't kill em ourselves.. we're wimps! lol Kelly Dyer wrote: > Not to be rude or get anyone annoyed with me......but all these animal > cruelty stories are getting to me ( Can you guys put a warning in > the title so I can delete them without thinking the topic has swayed > back to AT? thanks Kelly > > - > herbandteas > > Saturday, October 27, 2001 9:22 AM > Re: Roosters > When my Mom decided we were going to have fresh eggs we had > the same problem with her rooster. Guest guest
Hi Marilyn~ I didn't mean to start a big thing... I meant that post as polite... I'm sorry if it came across anything other than that ) I just didn't want to delete *all* the posts with the subject rooster, because usually topics swirl around and go off the original topic... I didn't want to miss out on anything good! LOL! My comment honestly didn't have anything to do with my being vegan, (my family had a bit of a farm growing up, so I'm coming from that also) it was just the humor at the death of the roosters that got to me a little... not offended mad or anything, just made me a little sad, you know? (not because I'm vegan, because I love animals) I thought since everyone here is so friendly, that no one would mind adding a word or two to the subject to spare me that? I honestly wasn't trying to start a whole vegetarian/meats/animal rights thingy.... I try to avoid those conversations at ALL costs usually, LOL, just not fun for me to argue my beliefs when they only need to matter to me, not anyone else, you know? I know that eating animals is a personal choice for everyone, and I like to keep it that way ;o) Anyway, no hard feelings, okay? On another note~ I live in Florida too... up here in Panama City... I moved here from New Jersey about 12 years ago...and the fire ants were just as much of a shock to us... those little boogers HURT!! Those are a *major* exception to the *shooing bugs away* theory, LOL, I'll do anything to get rid of them! Borax seems to be our best defense against them.... but we've tried all the pesticides and all that. I was so amazed the first time I used Lavender EO to soothe the pain of a fireant bite... *nothing* has ever helped so much ) Ohhh and the huge spiders!! We don't get them so much up here in pc, but we have family in Belleview (by Ocala) and *sheesh* they spiders there are the size of a dinner plate.. unbelievable!! Soooo glad we don't get those monster ones up here!! ekkk! LOL! Kelly PS~ So cool that you guys had a shelter!! ) I'm always telling my husband that we're going to win the lottery and rescue *all* the poor little homeless/mistreated/unloved little critters..... I think it scared him away from playing the lottery, LMAO!! - Marilyn Nicholson Saturday, October 27, 2001 4:31 PM Re: Kelly? Please read, k? :)Also Ants, etcs... Guest guest
Hi Kelly, Of course no hard feelings!!!!!!! Fire ants " sure are " an exeption!! (think they came from Mars or somewhere... lol) Win the lottery? HA... when we did the shelter back in CT, since Mark (hubby) worked for it, we were not allowed to play it.........at all! Had to sign papers and all that, else he could get fired AND arrested.............so tell your hubby that it's when you sometimes " can't " afford to do things that it'll always work out - at least that's how it was for us........... Since I get lost as soon as I get off my lil Lane here in Florida, I don't know at all where you are.....maybe you know where I am??? Flagler County - Palm Coast? Let's see.... we're bout 30 minutes north of Daytona.........and 30 minutes south of St. Augustine - East Coast.. (uh oh, I'm lost again!) Take care..
