Guest guest
I'm getting my list involved with this one cause I'm kind of stumped ...... I am going to be making a chocolate silk soap - with real chocoalte, silk and whipped cream Here is my dillema ..... I DO NOT use fragrance oils in my soaps (in fact my whole, big, old, collection of FO's sits in a covered Tupperware box collectiong dust cause I don't use them for anything anymore!) .. soooo ... what the heck scent do I make this soap? Thanks for any ideas in advance! *Smile* Chris Jasmine Sambac Absolute Co-op http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Hi Chris, Is the soap still going to be chocolate silk....... or are you asking for ideas on different kinds? (sorry, brain fried! lol) The stuff you mentioned is real.. and I CAN'T use FO's.. allergy! What fragrance oils are they using? Amazing, isn't it, that people would go to all the trouble of making something that sounds soooooooooo good and also sounds like it's very time consuming and then use FO's?????? Adding some honey absolute and some chamomile might be kinda neat though...........just a thought........... Guest guest
Sweet, definitely got to be sweet. Just a teensy bit of Cinnamon, ohh and stevia? I wonder if it would hold it's scent in soap? Could you add some cocoa powder for the chocolate smell?? I have no idea how scents stay through the soap process, so I am just guessing things here. And the smell of graham crackers some how. Maybe a bit of hops or wheat (smells grainy) with the cinnamon and stevia. Some marshamallow root might help with that creamy side of the smell. Apple would be good too, give it some body. Then you would need a sweet anchor in the blend, the apple is too floral for that. I am thinking something like a soft mint, apple mint or even a chocolate mint!! Oh oh, I just thought of that, chocolate mint would be perfect!! It smells so chocolaty, I just love the stuff. Oh that would be heaven. Yes. Chocolate mint Wheat or hops Marshamallow root Apple Stevia Cinnamon Oh, Oh, good stuff. I just went and mixed up some and it smells like holiday pies. Very chocolaty but not as good as chocolate silk pie. Oh yes, oh yes. Good stuff. I think I will be making some bath oils, balms and creams out of this scent. Cool, thanks Chris:) Blessings, Soseneda Quidquid Latine dictum sit, altum videtur. ICQ# 47264444 AIM: SosenedaA : Soseneda_Arianrhod Looking for herbs and other witchy supplies? Guest guest
*LOL* - I'm making choclate silk soap but I'm not using FO's (like chocolate or raspberry fragrance oil) to scent it ... so I am figuring out what Essential Oil (blend even) would smell good in a chocolate silk soap ... I like the honey idea, but what is honey absolute? (And I thought I knew everything *ROFL*) .. I was thinking maybe orange goes nicely with chocolate ..... but I just am not sure! (MY brain is fried from LOTS of holiday product development! *LOL*) I already make a chocolate mint soap (which everyone who asked will be getting in the mailbox next week ) ..... Thanks! *Smile* Chris http://www.alittleolfactory.com Marilyn Nicholson wrote: >Hi Chris, > >Is the soap still going to be chocolate silk....... or are you asking for ideas on different kinds? Chris, Ol.y thing I can think of would be to use a lot of cocoa buter and maybe some EO that smells llike vanilla. IF you add vanilla to a chocolate scent it makes it smell even more chocolately. There's a "balm" type of EO that smells like vanilla, can't call it to mind right now, but that might help. Sorry I can't be of more help. Guest guest
Hi Helaine, Candles are good.. though I'm allergic to FO's as I am to most synthetics, but perfumers, candle-makers, soap-makers, etc., do use FO's, some, for the scents that they can't get from EO's...........like strawberry, blueberry, etc....... Guess I'd have to say if one isn't allergic, use them in anything non-edible? Guest guest
Hiya Ann, I messed up.. had honey abs. on the brain, michelle's right, it 'is' beeswax abs. and smells just like honey.. (yummy) and tonka bean is wonderful too.. forgot all about that one.. as is the vanilla. You don't even have to use the vanilla absolute-- there's also an oleoresin, though thicker, smells really nice too...... Guest guest
I stay away from tonka bean- the herb is very strong and the eo is very high in coumarins....up to 48%(sheppard-hangar)- these are the photosensitizing constituents. It does smell good- its used in perfumery... michelle - Marilyn Nicholson <menicholson7 Sunday, October 28, 2001 7:40 AM Re: Scent Suggestion Needed .... > Hiya Ann, > > I messed up.. had honey abs. on the brain, michelle's right, it 'is' > beeswax abs. and smells just like honey..
