Guest guest
GAG! I HATE those things. Used to live in the philippines and if you had to get up in the night, you turned the lights on and counted to 5 to make sure you didn't have to see any of those things. My father forgot one time, and went out into the kitchen without turning on the lights until he got there. They were all OVER the place. Didn't matter what you did those horrid things got into everything. Even closed jars and cannisters. When we moved back to the U.S. we had one last little reminder of Phillippino Roaches, In amoungs the dishes were scatter roach corpses >shudder< Nope, won't rescue a roach! Cheers!Kathleen PetridesSmeLLeNNiuM: 101 Aromatic Storieshttp://www.101aromas.com - chrisziggy Saturday, October 27, 2001 10:04 AM Re: Bug Transfers and Roaches In Colorado I have actually met people who have asked me what a roach looks like coming from NYC - They honest to God never ever saw a roach! Here is my roach story .... I worked at a health food store in NYC ... and of course like every store in NYC we had a roach issue. So one day my boss says the problem was taken care of, roach control came, etc - we'd see no more roaches .... and he left the store to run errands. Well, that day we had more roaches running across the counters and scurrying past the customers than ever. I got so peeved that he bothered to tell us they were all gone and then proceeded to leave us in roach motel central , that when he returned to the store for the day, he was outside the front door talking to another business owner on the block .. I grabbed a roach that was running by on the counter, went up to him opened his hand and gently said "Dom, I thought you said we wouldn't see any more of these" .. and put the live roach in his hand .... That was the day I got promoted to manager *Smile*Chris (list mom)http://www.alittleolfactory.comherbandteas@... wrote: Now Roaches is different....we use to live in an apartment that had them bad so I would bomb every month til we finally moved out. Guest guest
I have found that if you buy the electronic pest controls found at any Walmart, you will never see another roach, spider, centipede, etc. I was plagued with insects when my neighbors moved in and a friend recommended this to me. I thought what do I have to lose. I have not seen anything since I plugged them in about a month ago. Walmart has a value pack of 5 for $25. Try it and you'll be glad that you did. It was the best thing I ever did. PS....My neighbors moved out, but now the roaches/bugs have a new place to live.
Guest guest
Um, not always true. We have the electronic things all over our place and they are totally useless. We have someone come in once every three months and spray our place and now the bugs and spiders are controlled very well, especially the hobos. Guest guest
1/2 boric acid mixed with 1/2 granulated white sugar is a very effective roach killer and it is relatively safe. Sneak preview the all-new .com. It's not radically different. Just radically better.

Guest guest
Hi Christy, OOOOOoooo. I hate them. Only experienced them once back nearly 30 years ago. Back then we moved into an apartment and there was this 'white powder' every where in the cupboards and under the sinks. I had no idea as I'd never experienced cockroaches before. But what this powder was - borax - 20 mule team! I guess it clings to the roaches feet and then they lick it off and it well, kills them. Simple and easy to use IF you don't have children that can get into it. I also recently read that Talc powder works the same. I think I'd try the talc and mix in a little peppermint oil and sprinkle that in my cupboards. Just a thought. Good luck with the roaches. As for the mice: The peppermint works according to our customers too. So we suggest using a terra cotta disc as it holds the peppermint longer than a cotton ball and they can't hoard the unscented cotton to make - ooo - a nesting bed! Guest guest
and there is another roach species.....wood roaches.....HUGE. They dont eat in your kitchen and sitting outside at nite with a light on THEY FLY and just swarm you. These are so big you can see their heads turn.....if you have so much as a hole anywhere in your home....they will come in and they are big.....really big..we have yet to find a safe deterrent but.....boric acid does work so thats why the borax works. Boric acid is finer so it clings to the legs, they take it back to the nest and then infect others..... this is my first year to see these things and our town is plagued with them. They are found around rotting wood......they hang out with termites as well so if you have one...you may have the other....and the fact these thing can fly is just gross....they are the color of the german cockroach as big or bigger (at least longer) then the american cock roach aka waterbug.....those roaches are black and hang around damp sites....water attracts them.....but they too dont get into your food........and then these wood roaches. I've yet to find anything that works and we finally cut down all shrubs and trimmed over hang on trees etc.....no change. Good luck. The apartment roaches aka german cockroaches are very hard to get rid of if others who have them do not take measures to get rid of them so if you get reinfected its from a neighbor's apt. the only bug to not change since evolution.....perhaps scientists can find out why roaches can survive anything and not change in looks might be the very thing we could use as a med...but yuck.....i wont be doing that. e

Guest guest
For moths, I use a mixture of clove buds, 2 parts & peppercorns, 1 part. Wrap in cheesecloth, cotton fabric (anything like a pomander) or leave open in bottle. Do not let this make contact with fabric, as there are volatile oils that will stain. So anything you would be concerned about being damaged by essential oils would be damaged by this mixture. Mice & Moths are my biggest problems. With roaches, make sure your toaster is emptied on a regular basis. They love to hide in there. Guest guest
I don't know about the Borax, but you often boric acid (also a white powder) in recipes for roaches. However, those recipes also say it can be harmful to pets and children. Lin --- On Wed, 12/16/09, Penny <pennyK wrote: Penny <pennyK Re:roaches Wednesday, December 16, 2009, 5:34 PM  Hi Christy, OOOOOoooo. Guest guest
Gretta, How do you use the mix with moth's when you already have an infection? 4 years ago, I had to stay in a nursing home for 3 months. During that time moth made themselves home in my house. I tried everything to entice them to leave, to no avail. Finally, after years of diligently using sticky traps, they seem to have gone. I hope so, for I had to ditch many beloved sweaters. C-M
