Guest guest
Speaking of gummy candies .... I'm looking to make my own Jell-O. My problem with Jell-O is not the gelatin, it is all the other junk in it. I was wonderig if anyone here has tried to make their own Jell-O desserts from plain gelatin? Can I add, for example, apple juice instead of water and get " apple Jell-O " ? I just don't want to waste a box of gelatin if that's gonna flop - figured I'd see if anyone else has tried it first *LOL* *Smile* Chris (list mom) Jasmine Sambac Absolute Co-op http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
In the Tightwas Gazzette books, she talks about making her own jell-o. She added apple juice too. I just buy vegetarian jell-o. The vegetarian also has natural beet juice for coloring and no crap in it. chrisziggy wrote: > Speaking of gummy candies .... I'm looking to make my own Jell-O. I'm looking to make my own Jell-O Chris, I used to make my own from fruit juice and Agar-Agar. If you want , I'll try to dig up the ammounts. Not sure I can though. Been twentny years or more. Someone else may have an idea of the proportions. I think ( keywork being "think" ) I used 1 heaping tablespoon of Agar-Agar per cup of juice, bringing it to a boil and boiling for a couple of minutes. Guest guest
All that is in jello packets is gelatin, powdered flavoring, colorants, and sugar (except for the sugar free ones:). Just add some gelatin to some fruit juice and food coloring if you really want to (I don't know why). Follow the directions on the gelatin. I use this type of method except with eos and water to create magickal roll-ons. Making a thin solution that is jelly like works better than lotions. Just pour it in the roll-on bottles and poof, natural magickal gooey type stuff. Blessings, Soseneda Quidquid Latine dictum sit, altum videtur. Guest guest
Okay, I got out my Tightwad Gazzette and this is what it says: " I thaw a quart of berries and whiz it in a 5-cup blender. I add 2 Tablespoons unflavored gelatin and 1/2 cup sugar and fill the blender with hot water. I blend this mixture, pour it in a bowl, and chill. " More: " 1 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin combined with a cup of cold liquid and a cup of boiling liquid will make solid gelatin. " She says she uses apple juice and food coloring for a healthy jello snack (the food coloring is because brown jell-o is gross looking). -- ~*~Erin~*~ WAHM to 3 Miracles born at home: Doodle ( how did she get to be 5??), Mommy's Little Man (3.5), Bean (*almost* 2) Owner of Eden Essentials http://edenessentials.ewahm.com I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents. ~George Carlin
