Guest guest
First I have to say that I have learned not to cut the TOP out of the pumpkin to carve a Jack O'Lantern .... cut the pumpkin open from the BOTTOM of what will be your face area and then you will never have the top cave in from decay and they last longer .... (I love the Jack O'Lanterns with the stem as the nose ) that being said ...... To make scented Jack O'Lanterns .. I rub the inside top portion of the pumpkin with a mixture of vegetable oil (your choice what kind), pumpkin pie spice blend and a blend of essential oils - I like to use cinnamon and clove. My Jack O'Lanterns not only look seasonal, but smell seasonal too! This is also applicable for any kind of squash or melon you may be using as a Jack O'Lantern, not just pumpkins:) *Smile* Chris (list mom) Jasmine Absolute Co-op http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Cutting out the bottoms is the ONLY way to go IMHO! I even avoid the messy candles and put up a strand of christmas lights and set the pumpkins on top. I put them on the roof of the carport (here's a pic) and I can flick a switch from inside to light them up. There are more pumpkins on my front steps, but I couldn't get a good photo of them. I also now have 8 cups of roasted seeds Party time! Michele -- ------ Who Wills, Can. Who Tries, Does.
