Guest guest
What sort of Halloweeen festivities are folks partaking in this year? Have any been precluded by the solemn events of the past month and a half? Have any been encouraged by those events? What are y'all doing with the little kids, and for the little kid in you? Here we are having one of Sean's little toddler friends come over with her natural living mommy .. we will have a healthy, fun, tasty, autumn themed feast for lunch, we'll also have kiddy Halloween shows/movies on the whole afternoon, then we'll go Trick Or Treating in my very suburban neighborhood .. the local church (4 blocks away) is having some festivites we may walk up to and check out, and then by the dark of sundown, when the biger kids come out the party will be over for my sweet little goblin and he will be preparing for the tub and then for bed (while I eat all of his candy ) *Smile* Chris (list mom) Happy Halloween! Guest guest
Well....my hubby and I are both firefighters for the local volunteer service and we host the annual haunted house in our town. We opened last weekend and this weekend will be our final. I think on Halloween(bummer that it is in the middle of the week) we will go to another haunted house and see how everyone else does it. Our boys are too old(geesh mom!!) to trick or treat. We live in the country so we don't have trick or treaters. Guest guest
Hi all- I can't remember the last time children came to my door to trick or treat anywhere I have lived in the past 16 years. Even then kids were discouraged from accepting " homemade " rather than store bought treats. When I lived in NC we had a farm and did hay rides, apple bobs, costume contests etc but they we family events. Seems every where else I have lived Fl, IN, WI, churches & schools have had events to keep the kids off the streets. Oh my, I feel the longing for my old Ky home coming on. Well back to cleaning, the mint/lavendin combination is uplifting. ((Hugs)) Janet >Hi Chris, all.. > >We're missing one ingredient.. the little kids! Guest guest
Over here in Scotland Halloween is celebrated more than it is in England. We live in a small village - 63 houses - and there are quite a lot of small children here. They come round in a group with a couple of adults. Most of them are dressed up and they often sing or recite something as a group, then get given fruit or sweeties which they collect in one bag and then share out. They also collect money for the fireworks for Guy Fawkes night on November 5th. That's when we have bonfires and firework displays all over UK and burn a 'guy' who is an effigy of the Guy that tried to blow up Parliament - a long time ago (I'm no good on dates!) When I lived in Oban which is on the west coast, it was the first time I'd ever experienced Halloween and trick or treats (I'm English and had just moved up) and was surprised when a group of about 7 children came round. They were all from one family, aged about 2 - 10 and all of them came in and in turn either sang or said or poem. I was very impressed! They didn't expect anything until after they'd all completed their performance - even the 2 year old! Regards Ann- Scotland-
