This is not a recommendation .. this is exactly what it says in the

subject line .. a testimonial. Y'all deal with it as you wish.

Hi y'all,

This is a post I made to the Idma Aromatherapy List on 15 February 2001.

-------------------------------

Gotta tell you about this one. Those who know me understand my affinity

to the Origanums .. I've only written on it maybe eighty-eleven times or

so in the past few years. Well this one even surprised me.

Yesterday morning, I woke up sneezing, had a sore throat and my sinuses

were plugged. I took 4 drops of neat Oregano in sugar at around 0800.

My sinuses opened immediately.

By 1100 or so my eyes were red and aching, throat still sore and the

sneezing continued but sinus problems began. Had a chicken doner (gyro)

for lunch with a big plate of hot peppers which naturally opened the

sinuses again. All day long, the gals in the office kept bringing me

Ihlamur (Linden Tea) with lemon and occasionally mixed with Rose

Hydrosol.

At 1300, I took another dose of Oregano as per above. I also sniffed

Rosemary (cineole) periodically which helped to keep the sinuses open.

It also gave me a kick in the butt energy wise and I needed that as my

butt was dragging.

Around 1500 or so, my eyes were aching, my teeth were aching, my ears

felt like I had descended to 33+ feet without equalizing pressure (I'm a

SCUBA diver and know the feeling) and it was painful.

Kept up the Linden Tea and Lemon and it made me feel better .. also, I

was dosing on Vit. C .. though I think it's a bit late for that when the

bug grabs you .. but what the hell .. and taking a 400mg Echinacea every

3-4 hours .. also wishful thinking but why not?

When my employees left at 1830, I was feeling like I might not be around

the next day .. I mean this bug was flat laying me out. I had terrible

burning in my nose and eyes and the sneezing was so loud it had to have

been heard out on the street. My teeth were aching .. the skin on my

face and head was aching and I was pinching it as I've often seen the

Vietnamese do to get rid of headaches, and it felt better when I did it.

At around 2000, I took another dose of oregano .. as above. By 2200 or

so, I was sure I had to die before I'd feel better .. I mean this bug

was wiping me out. My entire body ached .. even the hairs on my head

ached and that's a good trick cause I'm damned near bald! I was steady

drinking Linden and Peppermint Teas and drinking enough water to fill a

bathtub .. and losing it quickly as I was running from the nose and the

other end.

This went on and on and seemed to get worse if that was possible .. and

I was considering going to the emergency room as my head felt like the

pressure was going to blow my ears out and my eyes and teeth were really

aching .. and the sneezing was so continuous that it making my nose even

more sore ..

It was cold out .. spitting snow, so I decided to not go home .. figured

I'd be better off not dealing with the cold air, so at 0330 I pulled out

my handy-dandy little fold-away bed and sacked out in the office.

At 0830 this morning, there was a pounding on the office door .. my maid

had come to work but I had not heard the door bell (I lock the door from

inside at night) as I was in a deep sleep. I got up and didn't think

much of anything as I was still half asleep. She brought me a cupa

Turkish coffee and it suddenly dawned on me that I felt pretty danged

good - I had forgotten about being sick as I was still sleepy ... ;-p

Folks ... I BS you not .. I felt and still feel like I had not been sick

the previous day and night!!! I mean there was not/is not now even the

smallest bit of illness in this ol' kuntry boy .. In that FIVE hours of

sleep, that bug that was kicking my butt like Mohammed Ali used to do to

those who were dumb enough to climb into the ring with him, was gone ..

dead .. out of my bod. And now, it's 1735 in the afternoon and I still

feel great .. knocking on my wooden head for luck I am.

I continued the Oregano today .. took a dose at 0900 and another after

lunch around 1330 .. I'll take another one tonight and there is no doubt

in my ex-military mind that I done kilt that bad boy .. whatever it was

is now history. END OF STATEMENT!

Folks .. in the last few years, there have only been two times that I

felt this bad .. and I don't wimp out to feeling bad, got too much good

experience at it after 30 years of playing soldier. Once was in 1994

while I was on vacation in Israel and wound up in the emergency room

with pneumonia .. the other time was in November 1999 when I had a bug

of some kind that kicked my butt as badly as this one did but it took me

around two and a half days to kick that one .. but this one was a matter

of TWENTY-FOUR HOURS!!!!

I have always said and will continue to say that there is a helluva lot

more to aromatherapy than the practitioners feel comfortable discussing.

Those who know me understand what I'm saying .. I believe in my EOs and

I have learned how to use them in more ways than one .. I use them as I

see fit and I understand they are powerful medicine when used correctly,

and a dangerous weapon when used foolishly or abused ... but I'll say it

again, YOU GOTTA BELIEVE IN THEM!!!

This is not a recommendation .. this is exactly what it says in the

subject line .. a testimonial. Y'all deal with it as you wish.

And y'all keep smiling, Grinnin' Butch :-) http://www.AV-AT.com
