Guest guest
Hi y'all, wondering if I could get some directions on how to make a liquid perfume for a pretty vintage atomizer I've got. Alcohol with EOs? Ratios? Something else? A carrier oil instead? Clueless but willing to learn, Cindy ~~ I am the Goddess, I am the Mother All acts of love and pleasure are my ritual ~~
Guest guest
Hi, I make all our perfumes here and for others as well... also Mark's colognes/after shaves......etc, etc.. (he's the husband) and I use for perfumes ONLY jojoba oil. Reason being cuz for one, I don't like to put alcohol on my skin.............for two, jojoba oil is good for you and the blend lasts basically forever, for three, the first thing I want to smell while blending IS the blend; not alcohol. Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax and does go on nicely... holds scent as well. As for dilutions, it really depends on which oils you're using. There are lots that are skin irritants.............and as for jasmine, you need very little. ( just an example as rose otto's the same.........) For starters, try a 2% dilution, that should be safe... make sure of the size of your bottle and keep in mind to use a fixative oil in the scent such as vetiver, sandalwood works...... even patchouli, they're all good base oils, and a little goes a long way of those too... hope this helps! Marilyn, will this work in one of those "ol timey" perfume atomizers? the kind with the little rubber bulb for despensing? I , also, have one I would like to use for the Jasmine. Guest guest
Hi Deonia! Sure it'll work The little old perfume bulb bottles make some of the nicest and prettiest perfume-spritz bottles! I have some too. Just keep in mind or figure out how much they hold each - (the first one and the one for the jasmine..); so you can do your dilution correctly and then I usually do the drops part first and then add the jojoba oil - shake gently and you're ready to go! If you like.......you can even age the perfume a bit if you add the vetiver, sandalwood or patchouli, since those all tend to not only 'fix' the perfume scent, but smell better when aged a bit! If the blend smells a little like it hasn't really " come together " - add one drop of lavender (fine or standard) - tends to bring just about any blend together .............. Oh, and jasmine and sandalwood together is wonderful!!! :-) Good luck and have FUN with this!!!! Guest guest
Do you think the oil will clog the atomizer? I dont know, just guessing it might... I have used my tincturing alcohol to make perfumes- just a wee bit with distilled water and eo's- works well- I had to experiment a bit to get the prportions right- but I remember not more than 40%alcohol... hope this helps Michelle - Marilyn Nicholson <menicholson7 Thursday, October 18, 2001 2:58 AM Re: liquid perfume? > Hi Deonia! > > Sure it'll work The little old perfume bulb bottles make some of the > nicest and prettiest perfume-spritz bottles! Guest guest
Hi Michelle, Well.. so far, they haven't ever... and it's been a few years I've been making the perfumes.. colognes, etc.. and I always use the jojoba oil, with essentials - allergic to fragrance oils....... though I've never used alcohol as it's just me not wishing to use it on my skin, what you're saying is also a great option........ take care!
