Guest guest
Michele, I make votive and jar candles. I am thinking of starting a line of soy candles with EO instead of FO. I have never tried beeswax candles. Is it harder? Guest guest
Hi there, Beeswax is a little different than paraffin, in that it doesn't shrink as much (not as much topping off the wax) and that it is stickier. So if you use a plastic mold, you have to have a lot of silicone spray or they stick. I use metal 15 hr votive molds for my candles (see Chris's site for an example of my paraffin votives) and I actually put them in the fridge for a few minutes when they are cool so I can get the beeswax candles to pop out. I love working with the beeswax since it has a wonderful natural smell. Oh, and two tips, you need to use one size larger wick since beeswax is harder to burn, and it does tend to smoke and turn brown (bleck) if you heat it too hot or too long while melting it to pour. Guest guest
Michele, Thanks for the info. I think that the first new thing I am going to try is the soy wax candles....then beeswax. But until the Christmas rush is over......I am sticking to what I have already. :0) Linda Doug & Linda Manley***********************************************If at first you don't succeed.......Don't try skydiving.***********************************************
