I powder my herbs andspices and sift them and use them to give not only color to the soap butalso with some of the herbs they help hold the scent in the soap. I seem toalways gravitate to powdered Lavender for helping hold scent, but then whenusing other things like Peppermint EO I will use powdered Peppermint,Patchouli EO alone or with a blend I use powdered Patchouli, etc. Here are some helpful hints on how the herbs and spices can color soaps.Remember that the color will be earthy and will not be the same color witheach recipe used because each recipe according to how much yellow oils usedcan make a difference in the way that even the herbs and spices will workin the soap as with using pigments and dyes. I do recommend that you powder you herbs or spices very finely so that theywill incorporate into your soaps well, therefore giving more color throughout the bars. Also this keeps the herbs or spices from scraping and causingdamage to the skin. BrownCinnamon (red/brown) use Cinnamon sparingly, it is a sensitizer.
