Guest guest
Hi All, I was just reading in a soap book and they used Heliotrope as a part of making soaps. In the book it says Heliotrope oil. I have this plant (at least I did before the frost). It is wonderful it attracts butterflies, hummingbirds and is a beautiful deep purple color. Has anyone ever come across an essential oil for this. I have been searching and haven't seen a darn thing. I am not sure if they meant essential oi or fragrance oil. Thanks alot, I know I bombarde everyone with alot of questions. thanks for dealing with my ignorance on some things. Peace Angie
Guest guest
every fo that i've smelled that tries to simulate this smells alot like playdoh. i love this and tuberose, jasmine is another i can't find a duplicate of. it's one drawback of having expensive taste. they may make an eo, but with some of the precious oils, you'd have to be insane to use them in soap. you'll save a few bucks by using fos on the pricey ones. =) speaking of, when's the next rose co-op mom? i'm "less" poor right now ............. and it won't be this way long!! LOL And how 'bout a jasmine co-op? is that do-able?? - NAMIXAM Hi All, I was just reading in a soap book and they used Heliotrope as a part of making soaps . Guest guest
Hi All, thanks for the info, I have been searching on the net and as of now haven't been able to come up with anything as far as Heliotrope. I did find a web site that has perfume and sent for a sample. I will try that and see how close it comes. I grow this all over my yard in summer and I love the way it smells. Only bad thing is it likes colder weather to bloom usually, it also is sensitive to frost. Well, that really makes it a bummer in fall when it really takes off then withers at first frost. Anyway I am going to keep searching I would love to be able to find some hopefully when and if I do it won't be too expensive. Hey I just want to say Thanks for the help from everyone. I really appreciate it. I love the list Chris you are doing a wonderful job. I belong to a few others and right now everyone is pretty tense and lots of arguing going on how refreshing to see people express their feelings and still get along. I will never forget when my Grandmother stayed over and I was pregnant. I decided to take a nap and she opened my bedroom door with her cane and said "Don't you think it's time you got out of Bed????" And when the door bounced off the wall and came back I grabbed it and said "no I don't" and closed it right back up. Get those naps in while you can, once the babies are born napping is a thing of the past. Thanks for listening to me babble, Angie
