Guest guest
Hey Sandi " Humble " opinion? There's nothing humble about me OR my opinion! LOL My opinion... hmmmmm... Okay, Quite frankly I think it fills in some rather important areas that most aromatherapy books don't touch, namely Levels of sensitivity and irritation. For example: take cinnamon, an oil that is misused and abused by LOTS of people, from soapers to aromatherapists, to pagans, to people who just like the way it smells. (I've even been told of a professional Aromatherapist who puts it in her baby products on some soap list), > Whoops< just got on one of my soap boxes: To continue, According to Martin Watt's Plant Aromatics (on which he has 3 full pages on Cinnamon Bark Oil ALONE) he mentions that cinnamic Aldehyde constitues 60 to 90 % of the oil and has caused adverse reactions at only half a Percent per soloution. He goes on to mention that while one may NOT be experiencing irritation when one is using the oil on the skin, SENSITIZATION may be taking place. In other words, one is gradually becoming allergic to this oil. (think about this in connection with baby products! >shudder<) He also mentions cross reactions, such as those who are allergice to Peru balsam, CAN also be allergic to Cinnamon. He also mentions that ATOPIC people are advised to avoid any products containing Cinnamon (as well as Cassia). In another part of this book he has recommended levelso of essential oils in perfumes, and in another part he has charts indicating irritation and sensitization levels. It is in my NOT so humble opinion (LOL) that when it comes to learning about the safety of Essential oils, this book in more than invaluable, it is NECESSARY, simply because finding the information he provides, elsewhere is extremely difficult. Oh! And while he is at it, he also explodes aromatherapy myths that have been passed on from author to author. One last note, IF you are going to be in the business of making and selling products with E.O.'s, this book may just save your hide from litigation. Cheers!
