Guest guest Posted September 16, 2001 Report Share Posted September 16, 2001 I haven't stopped being teary eyed since I saw the first tower in flames and watched all the horror and devastation to follow live on TV ... 9 folks my family knows are missing. It is heartbreaking to hear my aunt tell me yesterday that her best friend Joyce, had to bring her son Scott's (my aunt's godson) toothbrush to the Manhattan morgue so they can get his DNA on file in case they happen to be lucky and find a toenail. He was one of the first firefighters on the scene ... I've known these people all my life. My aunt and Joyce have been best friends for 40 years ... Guest guest Posted September 16, 2001 Report Share Posted September 16, 2001 Hi all, I have worked in the towers and seeing them and feeling the fear in those hard working honest and innocent people fills me with more emotions than I can put in to words. Most of my friends have returned home, but some are yet to do so. I hear and relive their stories everyday. We are all facing an uncertain future - all of us in the world! But no matter how angry I feel, here is my 10 I shall do list: 1) I shall get up everyday and work however hard this may be. 2) I shall light a candle everyday and pray for everyone. 3) I shall not hate. 4) I shall support our economy and invest money without fear. 5) I shall spend money as usual and buy American. 6) I shall be gentle and cautious instead of acting purely with my emotions. 7) I shall travel freely no matter how I feel. 8) I shall live free as an American. 9) I shall unite, support and be there for our heroes, government and our entire nation. 10) I shall have hope, faith, love, compassion and respect for humanity! Guest guest Posted September 16, 2001 Report Share Posted September 16, 2001 Hi, I know...............I too, have friends that are " like " family there... whom I couldn't contact for a time since the phones were down... etc.. one of whom lived 5 miles from where it all happened - finally got her - she sounds terrible, and her cousin's one of the firefighters that's also missing.. another gal and her boyfriend, (she's almost like a daughter to me) sent e-mail when she could and she DOES NOT feel safe there.... and I sure don't blame her! She posted on the fortunecity message board......... as an update in NY. And...............it could have happened anywhere.... though as I know you're from NY, you've gotta be going thru hell right now!
