Hi Suzanne,

Welcome :)

There still isn't a total understanding now ... but certainly more than 14

years ago. Women go through many intense chemical and hormonal changes

throughout our lives from the fact that we have the reproductive system that

we do. Some women have more intense experiences than others (an

understatement ;). I don't think enough attenton is paid to that biological

fact in general, so we don't practice the " preventive medicine " to help ease

these issues to begin with. Even many women aware of their bodies and its

needs are sometimes just too busy to do right by themselves all the time ;)

so I

It is hard to do it alone, but you did make it :)

My point is, two weeks ago, she tried to kill herself.

> She JUST got out of the hospital last Thursday

I am so sorry! That's not easy for anyone .... My prayers are with her, you

and all of your family.

I'm sure that it was hard for you to tell us this.

- I can't help but wonder

> how her life was affected by my actions.

Suzanne, she is desperately crying out in pain for help .. not telling you

she hates you and you wronged her as a baby. She survived this attempt, she

is here :) and has the chance to be helped now, she asked for that help loud

and clear. You all need healing now .. and help to get through this. Blaming

yourself for a sickness you had 14 years ago that was not your fault will

not help this. You need to work on what her pain is NOW.

I don't know if I'd call the above insight, it's just my humble opinion

Dear Marilyn, Chris & Terri,

Thank you all so much for your support and advice. I'm truly touched that

you would all take the time to respond so quickly and warmly.

Hanna (my daughter) and I, along with my s/o Adam (Chris, you know us)

and my son are all dealing with this the best we can. It's been quite an

ordeal, to say the least, but you're right. It was a cry for help and we

heard her loud and clear! I've just gotta work on letting go of my residual

guilt so we can focus on the issue(s) at hand. Thanks again for such a warm

welcome - I think I'm going to like it here!

peace & love,

Suzanne

Hi and welcome, Suzanne,

Thank you for sharing though I know it's not easy...........and my heart goes

out to you in all you've been through and are going through. I'm no expert....

but one thing I do know is - please don't blame yourself for something that was

totally beyond your control 14 years ago. Your daughter has her own issues to

deal with and she's " ALIVE " - and will need her Mom even more than ever. She

cried out for help in this way and now she can begin to get it and heal

..........with you by her side. She loves you.......and anyone can have

depression problems for many, many reasons; just be there and give the love that

your daughter knows you have for her.........

Maybe another way to look at this is that " you " made it; she too will make it

and who better to understand her pain than her Mom, especially a Mom who's been

through depression and survived! Blessings to you and your daughter.

Dear Suzanne,

sorry I didn't reply earlier-I'm in UK and only get posts the next day. I'm

so sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm sure your daughters problems are

not connected , but are a response to something hurting her. Has she got

problems at school, for example? All you can do is go forward from this

together and try to explore any issues which arise. The positive thing is

that she didn't succeed which gives you the chance to support and help her.

You sound like a very wonderful mum, and I hope what has happened can bring

you closer together.

Take care

Karen xxx
