I suffered from Post partum depression 11 yrs ago, to the extent that they would not let me go home with my baby, but transferred me straight to a Mother and Baby unit in the area. I stayed there for 3 months, and didn't really accept Hannah as mine until she was 4 1/2 months old. It makes me so angry when people pass it off as " Baby Blues " as it is so much much more than that. When I remember some of the thoughts I had about myself and Hannah-ugh!!!! I OD'd twice during this period and am lucky to still be here. I'm telling you all this actually to be positive-you can come thru it. Hannah and I have the most fantastic relationship-I love her unbelievably and would lie down and die for her!! When people find out what a start we had, they find it so uplifting that good can come out of such an awful situation. We spent 4 years on our own, but now she has the greatest step dad in the world, and my faith in men has been restored(well, some anyway!). So to anyone who knows someone going thru it-tell them to take all the help they can get, and there is definitely light at the end! Take care Karen xxx

Guest guest
Hello group, I'm a new member on this list, but I can't help but want to share since I've read some of your posts. I, too, suffered from post partum depression - to the point where I almost killed my daughter when she was only 2 months old. There wasn't alot of information available back then (14 years ago), so I never got any help. My point is, two weeks ago, she tried to kill herself. She JUST got out of the hospital last Thursday - I can't help but wonder how her life was affected by my actions. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! peace & love, Suzanne Hi Karen, You are an inspiration to one and all. Thanks so much for the sharing and you're a very special person.
