Guest guest
off of one of my AT lists this morning. i figured some of you may be interested in this *smile* chris ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi Kelly, > I was hoping someone has has some experience with strep throat and can > share some words of wisdom???? Thanks and have a great day. kelly Not sure if these are words of wisdom - mebbe more words of experience. Me and mine and a few dozens of others who have tried oregano oil know that it kicks strep in a matter of 12-18 hours - not days. And the rate of success is not 99% - it's ONE HUNDRED PERCENT!!!! But - this involves ingestion of a small amount of the essential oil and some of the folks (especially those that are totally without knowledge of use of EOs) scream and beat their breasts when folks talk about this. But ingestion is a norm in the AT community - most of the teachers and preachers who are knowledgeable and who tell you to not ingest do it themselves - but they don't want to go on record with recommendations because they're afraid folks will take that as them prescribing medicine - which essential oils are! They're also afraid that the unknowing will use the wrong oil for the wrong reason and in the wrong dosage and they're not wrong to fear this as it is likely that would occur. SO - I take the same position and never do I recommend crap - but I do provide testimonials on how me and mine do this or that and I expect some other folks might do that too. I've posted before how I use oregano oil ... but here it is again. Oregano oil is anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial (maybe antiviral) and an immunostimulant - among other things. For these reasons, if me or mine think we might have bad bug problems, we can do a 4% dilution chest rub, or sniff it straight from the bottle or on a cloth, or ingest some as I have described forty-eleven times on all the lists - but I would never even consider recommending this to others as I'm not a sawbones .. ;-) I've put out on a few lists information on use of oregano oil for colds, flu, strep and other illnesses we typically suffer, particularly in the winter months, and lots of folks asked how I used it. So many asked that I posted it publicly rather than prepare a laundry list of e-mail addresses .. this is my personal choice and I make no recommendations. Sometimes I sniff it straight from the bottle - especially if I feel stuffed up. It works quickly to clear sinuses. For ingestion, I make a 30% oregano oil and 70% extra-virgin olive oil mixture. I drop 3 or 4 drops of the above mixture into a spoonful of sugar, put the spoon of sugar in my mouth, take in a sip of water and roll it around a bit, then swallow it slowly and immediately chase it with a full glass (or two) of water. The trick is to not get it on your lips - it will sting a bit then - much like a medium hot pepper. If one takes too much, it might make them think they can't breathe - that happened to one of my employees once ... I told them that the trick here is don't take too much and if they do, don't panic because they can breathe - and through the nose if nothing else. But they shouldn't panic, they should take a big glass of water and wash it down. But don't take TOO MUCH as it's not needed at a high dosage anyway - oregano is a powerful kicker of bad bug butts even at ultra-low dilutions. Sometimes, I put it on bread or spaghetti or other food. Some folks mix it into yoghert or some other fatty substance. Sometimes I shoot it straight onto my tongue with an eye-dropper and chase it with a big slug or two of coffee. My folks can't do this as they aren't as used to it as I am. Besides, I'm not really human anyway and they'll learn that at my autopsy - I'm really a Martian. Sometimes I take it in two fingers of water - it will bead up as it does not dilute in water. I shoot the water (avoiding my lips) like a shot of tequila and immediately chase it with another big glass of water. The above is what I take (twice a day) when I'm in the kill mode - and I've never needed it (nor known others to need it) for longer than three days and normally, just 48 hours. For maintenance/prevention, I go with a 10%/90% mixture twice a day for two or three days and lay off for two or three days or so - then repeat. Soon, the dreaded flu will be out and about again here in Turkey. Me and mine will be on the maintenance/prevention program and I'm sure we will not become ill ... just as NONE of us did last year when we had a major epidemic here - hospitals full of folks, schools and government offices closed - folks dropping like flies. We continued in a normal manner and didn't lose one man or lady day of work. If I didn't like the odor of oregano, I could simply hold my nose while taking it and I wouldn't smell or taste it .... of course, that's not technically AT if I can't smell it ... ;-) But ingestion is really not AT anyway - more like herbalism. That's one of the many reasons I decided long ago that I didn't want to claim to be an aromatherapist - I just use EOs to maintain balance and heal my spirit, mind and body ..... A few weeks ago - I did my routine mussel devouring night. Dudes sell steamed mussels, stuffed with rice and raisons, right off a cart on the street - he always sets up near the outdoor bar I generally sit in for an hour or so some evenings. People standing all around the dude - he was popping shells, squeezing lemon juice into the shell, handing it to the next one ready to eat and opening another one for the next person. We pop it out with our tongue but maybe every 10th or 12th one will be hard stuck to the shell - then you use the other side of the shell as a spoon and scoop it out. It's danged good. BUT - sometimes in the hot weather it might be just a tad on the contaminated with bacteria that will kick you in the butt. I got a few of them that night. Came back to the office and within an hour, I was groaning and heading for the bathroom - spurting out both ends. Did my oregano thing, laid down on the rug for a couple of hours and slept and when I woke up, I was 50% better. Worked for 3 or 4 more hours and took some more - laid down again and this time slept till the light came through the windows. I was much, much better. Went home, cleaned up and came back to the office. With lunch, I took some more oregano and that was the last I needed - it flat kicked them bad boys whut were kicking me. For salmonella, I'll guarantee that a kill ratio of 30%/70% will knock it in the butt quicker'n folks can shake a stick, and it'll knock strep even quicker. We have lots of experience dealing with both of these. Of course, I would never recommend any of the folks on this list do as I do because I'm not a doctor .... But my friends and employees here in Turkey do as I do because they choose to do so - and we're a healthy bunch'a folks ... Y'all keep smiling, Butch
