Guest guest
I've been in the RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and AS (ankylosing spondylitis) ward for this week. It's under the directorship of Dr Yie XiaoPing, a well renowned specialist in the treatment of these two disabling diseases. All the patients in the ward are categorised with the same syndrome differentiation, Kidney deficiency with Wind-Damp-Cold obstruction mainly in the Du meridian. The only difference between patients is if its more Kidney Yang than Yin and if it's a hot or cold syndrome. The formula is standardised throughout the whole ward and is altered to treat the two varieties of hot or cold, Yin or Yang. Another interesting thing I noticed was the machine they use to treat all sufferers. You may well know that Tuina is not allowed on any RA or AS sufferer as this can cause damage to the body. However, this machine, which looks very similar to a CAT scan machine but of course smaller, massages the body using vibrations that mimic different Tuina techniques. Not only this but the machine sprays the patient with a herbal formula on the Du meridian and over the body. It shows good results and costs 50,000 yuan. I'll try and find out the details of the manufacturer, but I do know its made by Shen Zhen Liante Industry. Another thing about this ward is that a lot of external and sometimes internal formulas used as secrets. Its strange to come across this in modern times especially in such a Westernised hospital as Zhong Ri, but that's China for you. I also saw a patient with Becets syndrome. Does anyone have any info on this disease? Attilio
Guest guest
Hi Attilio, One of the ways I got to know and understand Dr. Kang here in San Francisco is that he cured my fairly stabilized ankylosing spondylitis with one tui na treatment ... it took half an afternoon. My family has the HLA-B27 marker with my mother, brother and sister all completely ankylosed by age 50. I dodged the bullet in my 30s. Now my vertebrae show no spurring at all on X-ray exam. Dr. Kang was chief of TCM at the main hospital in Shanghai, but as you've just witnessed, secrecy is the order of the day. It's the same here, too. If you intern with him, he'll teach you stuff. Not really that much is written of what he does in tui na or in herbal medicine. Some of my friends here earn their knowledge by spending five or six years interning with various practitioners of significant merit. I guess that's pretty much the same as an MD interning for many years for board certification. Around here in CM you have to be self-motivated and create your own residency. To the self-directed practitioner perhaps that's a better system. Dr. Kang spent 7 long years training in tui na before going to medical school. Guest guest
Hi Emmanuel, Very interesting the power of Tuina. This pc totally locks my back up, so I'm having two sessions a week of Tuina with a wonderful blind guy called Eric. Such a nice guy and really good. It seems that many blind people in China learn Tuina as a way of supporting themselves. Is this seen anywhere else in the world i wonder? What is good is the years of training they have to do, as you stated. It takes years and are unlike most tuina courses in the West. Actually some places in China are offering a 3 week Tuina course for us students, after which you'll be well qualified and able to practice and teach Tuina back in the West. What a joke! I'm finding other instances where courses are sold at highly inflated prices such as the Qi Gong course with amazing qualifications that mean nothing. Although, i believe Universities in the West and everywhere have been doing that for years.
