Hi Everybody!

 

Here is a case study: Point selections are from " Ibis 99 " and " Edif! "

software packages. Treatment summaries at the end.

 

Patient number: 116041942

 

Date of birth: 10 - 27 - 46; Male, Jewish (congenital susceptibility to

Crohn's).

 

Starting with the " Observe " Examination:

 

Dry lifeless color indicates exhausted Stomach-Qi)

Red color (may indicate Inflammation, fever or infection) Sunburned

Tall & Slender, hard working " Wood Type " . Yes.

Clear thin phlegm, cold pattern

Tinnitus is yin deficient.

Healthy color around wrists and ankles. Yes.

Tongue color. Red.

Tongue shape. Thin.

Tongue coating. Thin white.

Tongue moisture. Moist

 

Time of day that there is sweating. (day sweat, yang deficiency)

Condition of the illness. OK.

Quality of the sweat. Beady.

Sudden onset of headache. Yes.

Gradual onset of headache. Yes

Location of the headache. Temple, band, back or occiput.

Character of the headache pain: dull.

Condition of the patient while having the headache. OK.

Severe giddiness, everything seems to sway, loss of balance. Sometimes.

Slight dizziness with a feeling of heaviness in the head. Yes.

Sudden onset of dizziness. Yes.

Pain that is diminished by heat. Yes.

Pain that is diminished by cold. Yes. (heat)

Pain that is relieved by touch or pressure. Yes. (deficient)

Heart rate. 79.

Thin pulse feels like a fine thread but very distinct and clear. Yes.

(blood deficiency, often qi deficiency as well)

Left proximal (third) Kidney Yin; Right proximal (third) Kidney Yang,

Mingmen, Life Gate Fire.

Dry skin. Yes. (deficiency of liver blood)

Itchy skin. Yes. (wind)

Withered skin. Yes. (fluids are exhausted)

 

Impression: Excess and deficient, yin and yang deficient.

Blood deficient, Blood stasis.

Wind.

Fluid insufficient. Dry skin.

Heat and cold.

Notes on the next 12 visits after the consultation and exam:

 

1-23-4: Bu Yang Huan Wu, Pian Tou Tong Wan, told him to take Bu Yang 8

pills 3 x daily, 4 or 5 Pian Tou if feel headache approaching. Yesterday he

had migraine start, then anxiety - he had to sit down, then he had a panic

attack, restless, hyper ventilated, more agitated, then sobbing and a

visual disturbance in the left hemisphere. Took 2 1/2 valium, then another

2 1/2, had to lie down then headache on right side then on the temple

started to think about grounding and empowerment. For years has felt on the

brink of death. Wants to compose music, arrange ballads, serious music,

psalms, Kaddish (Jewish prayer for the dead) Wants to live by the beach.

 

1-28-4: Had light show that normally precedes headache, but no pain. UB 18,

20, 21, 22, 23 + Ashi at cervical (lots of needles) Was to Dr. A

(chiropractor) not impressed. Dr. a shoots from the hip, did not consider

his appliance. Very responsive to needles - gets qi quickly. Will need more

pills Saturday

 

1-31-4: Great Yang Restoration 8 x 3, An Mien Wan 4 x 3 Had the preceding

symptoms of HA, lightheaded, visual dullness, but no light show. Headaches

have not reoccurred but came close. Referred to Dr. Rebecca Roberts for

osteopathic manipulation. Ashi points on back UB, Huatuojiaji, others as

sensitive to pressure. K 1; Sp 6; GB 34. Treatment put him " in la la land "

Sinuses seem better, energy seems better, tightness in throat is improved.

 

2-4-4: Headache in back of neck. UB 20, 22, 23; Sp 6; K 1, 3; Ashi head,

neck and spine. OD doctor says his bone density is only 30%, need to tonify

bone.

 

2-7-4: Had a mini-migraine with loose stools. Lots of energy, less spaced

out in AM. Sore neck - took Tylenol this AM. UB 10; SI 12, 9; K 1; Sp 6; GB

34; LI 11, 4; L 7; Ashi (hua tuo jia ji). Great Yang, Peaceful Sleep refilled.

 

2-11-4: Has vertigo every morning + low level anxiety, shaky on feet during

vertigo. N-HN-13; N-HN-54 Anmian; GB 41; K 6, 1; Sp 6; LI 4, 11; L 7; Ashi

(UB & Huatuojiaji) Lower back spasm after treatment c. UB 24 right. Also

spasm at right scapular spine inside + acid reflux + phlegm drainage.

Attributed to uncomfortable position during retaining period.

 

2-14-4: Feeling dizzy on arising - ask him to experiment with a small piece

of hard candy before he gets up. Take blood pressure 98/64/85 rate. Needle

ear increase blood pressure point bilaterally and recheck 108/76/83.

Recheck after full treatment 123/73/81. K 1; Sp 6; St 36; L 7; LI 4, 11;

Ear increase blood pressure. Advised to take Pian Tou Tong Wan 4 pills 2 x

daily.

 

2-20-4: Had migraine on Sunday - hadn't eaten for 5 hours. Went away while

eating. Gut acting up Tues and Wed. Burning around stoma (surgically

created outlet where appliance attaches) went to Taco Bell. Gourmet

restaurant in St Pete $40 for two was good, he thinks he does better with

decent food. Felt more grounded, mood is better, anxiety is gone. Still

shaky in the morning. Wants work on stomach and small intestine. Question

about pimples and pregnosone. Bleeds when he changes the appliance, has a

red pimple or pustule. Margarite Acne Pill 1 x 2, avoid sweets, greasy

foods, go easy on fats. Ear increase Blood pressure. LI 11, 4; L 7; SI 4;

St 36; Sp 6; K 1.

 

2-25-4: Sensitive to noise, bright light, " stimulation " , felt dizzy in

Staples, laid down and was OK. Best Buy, Staples, Publix, Meier's Thrifty

Acres, Wal Mart all bother him. Dr. Richard Proctor in Bradenton will try

tetracycline for Crohn's. Arrange for vacation herbs. Ear increase blood

pressure; LI 11, 4; K 1; L 7; SI 4, 9; St 36; Sp 6.

 

2-28-4: Tired all day. Had two migraine on Thursday, both before 2 o'clock.

right side 10:45 AM, Left side 1:30 PM. Took valium 2nd tome 2 1/2 mg. -

works without side effect - relax, cut anxiety, usually. Headaches were on

Sunday dentist cancelled appointment, made him angry. Pimple looks better,

put on neosporin. Ear increase blood pressure; SI 4, 19; LI 11, 4; L 7; St

36; Sp 6 (electro on St 36 - Sp 6); K 1. Fell asleep during treatment. He

is more relaxed, calmer, mellower.

 

3-3-4: Felt good after last treatment but got a migraine 2 days later about

2:15 after a substantial brunch, pain on left eye, light show. Took Pian

Tou and laid down, a typical experience. Ear Visual 1, Raise Blood

Pressure, Visual 2, forehead, temple, vertex, occiput; Du 26; Ren 18; LI

11, 4; L 7; St 36; Sp 6; K 1.

 

3-6-4: He says he thinks I have hit on the migraine cure with the last

treatment. Did not get pulsing and no light show, even after the

substantial brunch. Still has burning of the stoma. Stool is more watery

than usual. Decided he should cut down on Great Yang and peaceful sleep,

and see what happens. He has been taking 4 x 2, cut to 3 x 2. Told me about

a book he wants me to read by Andrew Gaeddert on digestive diseases, he

will send me the book. Asks about Isatis Cooling and Quiet Digestion, I

will research. Thin Hollow Pulse, Thin pale tongue, thin white TC with two

short diagonal cracks by big center crack. Repeat last (successful)

treatment this time.
