Guest guest
My first knee jerk reaction is that all herbs would be contraindicated... That is to say, anything doing with regulating the chong and ren, menses, blood etc... are going to be so drastically changed by the Clomid that don't even try to mess with it. I'm assuming that the Clomid is the short term kind to produce eggs. In this scenerio, superficial herbs for a wind cold or heat but I wouldn't do anything constitutional... Just my opinion... doug , " mohayley " <je604@e...> wrote: > Does anyone know if there are any contraindications with Clomid and > and herbs taken at the same time? Guest guest
Alon, you are right, Clomid and herbs are compatable. I guess my knee jerk was more to the question (with all respect to the original writer). The last times I have seen clomid used is with fertile women and their doctors giving clomid to produce more eggs for use in IVF. In those cases I have backed away until after the " harvesting " . I see that the question is phrased as Luteal Phase defect which in this case is different. Still if the woman was not otherwise abnormal I would back away from starting to use herbs at the same time as starting to use Clomid. If the menses in this case were way off base any answer to " what herbs are contraindicated " would be inadaquate. Again, I would feel more comfortable with a case or a question about experiences rather than a request in this manner. As if pulling one or two herbs out of a formula makes everything safe. Again with respect to the original writer asking questions like this is a limitation of these on-line forums. doug , " Alon Marcus " <alonmarcus@w...> wrote: > My first knee jerk reaction is that all herbs would be contraindicated... Guest guest
I have treated many women who did the 5 days of Clomid (Day 5 - 9) and have not had any problem with herbs. If the is a Luteal Phase Defect then there is usually a problem with the transformation from yin to yang and then there is not sufficient yang to keep the temperature high enough. In the 1st half of the cycle I tend to focus on yin and blood and then, toward ovulation add some yang supplementing. After ovulation more focus on yang while not ignoring the yin. Of course, one must do an appropriate differential diagnosis to determine the TCM pattern but this is what I often see. Guest guest
the biggest problem with clomid is that it cuases fluids to congeal. it forms phlegm. it is crucial to nourish the yin and generate fluids, especially at ovulation. think oof herbs like tian hua fen for example. and watch for yang tonics that are drying. Guest guest
Does anyone know if there is any contraindication with a patient taking Clomid and any Chinese Herbal formula at the same time. If so, what herbs need to be subtracted from a formula. Joyce Edwards
