Guest guest
Greetings, I'm an L.Ac. in California, MTOM from PCOM, San Diego, class of '91-92. Earlier an MA in music history, UCBerkeley, 1967, and in between a couple of decades in computer software systems. My interests are both clinical and academic, which are mutually reinforcing. While I believe academic interest need not be required of practitioners, it can contribute to our field, can help legitimate and integrate our viewpoint into the cultural context. (See the message " Re: Doctorates " , which outlines some thoughts.) Major influences have been periods of study with Ted Kaptchuk, Leon Hammer, and Jeffery Yuen, though I wouldn't claim to a protegee of any of them. Also take great interest in the writings of Claude Larre and Paul Unschuld, with the belief that each, in his own way, makes major contributions to our field. Biases: I believe " TCM " is a limited perspective, relative to what classical traditions offer, and relative to what we can create as a medical tradition for our time and culture. And my perspective is mostly American, though I spent a decade living in Europe. Looking forward to sharing and learning here.
