Get to know your congressman personally and talk about being a co-sponsor for HR747 this time around, and any other proactive OM bills that come down the pike. The more you ask for the more this person will have to become aware of the profession and its utility in the greater run of things. Even if they don't go for it, continue to support this person, unless you like someone else better whom you feel good about supporting and thier chances on winning, keep connected withthem and offer them to consider it again each session (2 years).

These people work off of long term relationships. They have a lot of people who will support them while thier little thing is being done and don't do so later, and they can pick them out from those who seriously support them, long term, for who they are.
