Guest guest
For me I see qi as the way cells communicate. by stimulating the electomagnetic field of the skin with a needle or moxa, tuning fork, laser, finger, cup, emmination from P8 etc you cause a spark that generates a healing cascade as cells begin to work together more effectively. points cause different groups of cells to work together better. we will not be able to prove how acupuncture works until we can determine the language of cells. at that time we will also be able to measure qi which would then be the loudness of the vibration that calls the cells to work together as it comes from from the organ, meridian and/or practitioner. so if there is no qi then none of the cells work together and the patient is dead. There's a lot in what you say that I find to be quite consonant with longstanding considerations about what we know as qi. But I have one question. Why would qi be the loudness of the vibration? What leads you to see loudness, i.e., increased amplitude as qi? I'm reminded of a line of poetry from Han Shan, Cold Mountain, which as translated by Gary Snyder says, Light wind in hidden pine. Listen close. Sound gets better. And I remember the poet Cid Corman telling a small group of us who had gathered to hear him read that he wouldn't be raising his voice during the evening, because if we couldn't hear him when he was whispering, then we just weren't paying close enough attention. I always tell people that I work with that the essence of getting in touch with their qi lies in silence and stillness. I don't think of the the organs screaming loudly at the channgels and network vessels and the points until their associated qi has already been substantially disordered. By the time a person has pains and other symptoms, they have neglected many, many quiet messages from all over their body as to what has been happening with their qi. Certainly the integration of masses and of qi can produce a loudness of varying degrees, but the thundering silence of qi is its truly impressive character.
